Janet,
That is good question I forgot to mention. The PQML came from the seed of quadrangularis. We can fruit quadrangularis in NorCal for several year. Some years the fruits are good but some other years aren’t ( the fruit of quadrangularis has to be ripe before December.) we decided to make the cross of decaisneana x quadrangularis. We used pollen of decaisneana put on quadrangularis flowers. Later we plant the seeds of the fruits. There were different seedlings. We wanted the big fruits. We selected seedlings that had more than 4 petiole glands. We had 5,6, 7, 8 petiole glands seedlings. PQML has 5,6 petiole glands.
For decaisneana fruits, I detected the fragrance of soursop. Again, it depends the ripeness of the fruit and the time you pick the fruits. The fruit taste best if they are ripe before the cold of winter.
