Suebelle White Sapote Fruit Photos
« on: August 20, 2023, 03:03:42 PM »
Hi, I wanted to ask anyone who is growing the Suebelle white sapote if they would post a photo of their ripe fruits.

I have a version (10 yrs old in pot) and not sure if the variety is the correct Suebelle. I would like to see the photos of fruits from people who actually grow them.

I know Jason (SHV) has a nice tree with the best looking fruits I have seen. Also if you are growing the Suebelle, can you post the outside and inside pictures since I hear there was another one that was not the real Suebelle.

Can you comment on the taste of the fruit, do you like it better than other varieties that you have tasted?

Thanks.

I am interested in this also, as you mentioned that the suebell fruit I posted my photos of looks different than you were expecting to see.  Also, somebody mentioned that there is yet another "mislabelled Excalibur suebell" that does not have fuzzy/pubescent leaf undersides

Yes, correct. I have two sources of the Suebelle grafted on my trees but it will be 2years before I see the fruits.

One person who gave me the cutting said their Suebelle tasted very good. Also gave me a Vernon that she said has large fruits and tastes good.

My Suebelle that I had in a pot eventually died, I remember it fruited every year but it had very small fruits. My Vernon purchased from Armstrong nursery has good tasting fruit but it was also small, probably because it was in a 15 gallon pot. I grafted my Vernon on my larger in ground tree last year so next year I should have better fruits.
