MarktLee's wonderful rare fruit tree collection
« on: August 30, 2023, 11:09:38 PM »
Hello everyone. I just wanted to share fellow forum member MarktLee's video tour we filmed not too long ago. I was finally able to meet Mark in person and he was gracious enough to show me around. He is an awesome long time rare fruit collector and luckily he is willing to spread some diversity via knowledge, scions, trees and fruit.

Amazing stuff! I have got to make another trip out to the west coast before I'm off to college. Mark, you have an amazing collection, and G, thanks for the amazing video!

Eyeckr,  I really enjoy your youtube channel, it's one of my favorites.  Thanks for taking the time to make these videos.

Mark, thanks for sharing your garden, fruits, and genetics with this community.

Yes, thanks "G" for coming down and doing the video, the last one I did was 8 years ago. A lot has actually changed on my property. I'll do a little update. We've got Pawpaws, jackfruit, chico, lychee, canistel, grapes, pomegranates, blackberries and bananas ripening now. Also the anonnas are all setting fruit.

Mark is an awesome guy and I love visiting his orchard. He’s got so much packed into his yard, just what I love to see. I just need to convince him to jump into the Yangmei train.

My wife thinks I'm crazy; always nice to see I'm not alone. Really cool seeing how different growers use their space and what choices are made.

Special garden you have created there! Thank you for sharing with us (Mark) and for the great vid (eyeckr)!

Thanks for sharing!

Mark, why are u getting rid of the Keo Savoy mango?

My wife had translated word for word are "Wax Jambu", "Pink", and the last 2 words are the name of a city.

Hi, tell your wife thanks for the translation.

The Keo Savoy needs more heat for the fruit to size up. We are so close to the coast that many of the asian mangos don't do too well.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for sharing the updated video.

Where did you get your black fabric ground covering?

Have you noticed if Luc's garcinia is more vigorous grafted onto Imbe than on its own roots?  Has your Luc's flowered yet?

How would you compare the taste of your Kecil wax jambu against the green one?  My Thai Long died and I'm not sure if it's worth replacing.

Hi Janet, I got the nursery cloth from Horticultural supply in San Marcos. The Luc's has grown 3 times faster grafted onto the Imbe. I haven't seen any flowers yet, there maybe some hidden though. The Kecil has a really distinctive taste, it's not real sweet, but has a real good flavor.
