Should you spray the leaves with water on the citrus trees?

What happens when it rains? I like to rinse occasionally to remove the dust, but try not to do it when it's 110 degrees at high noon.

I don't think it makes a meaningful difference.  In hot sun the water most likely evaporates in minutes and with the surface tension the cooled area would be very small.

What is confusing is that with some kind of plants like Basil, you water the leaves and you get all sorts of disease in the leaves however other plants like maybe Citrus if you don't spray the leaves, it gets bugs. So there is no general rule on if you should do it or not.

Some trees if they get hit with a sprinkler will end up rotting on the bark. It will turn an ugly black because of like mold or bacteria. While other trees seem to need the leaves to be sprayed.

Also, I think rain water better than tap water. They put fluoride in that tap water, which serves no purpose for making the water drinkable. Also, Chlorine and Chloramines, which are supposed to kill bad things in the water.
