Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Is this mysore banana?
« on: July 13, 2024, 10:43:57 PM »
Hello, not a Mysore.
I'll post a photo of my banana tree tomorrow.
Please do. Tyty doesn't believe that it is mislabeled, so let's see how this goes. Worst comes to worst, I will just do a charge back. What a pain!!!🤦🏽
Hi, Mysore is green leafed with red midribs. Undersides of leaves have pinkish.

Thank you Bill!! I wish I looked up their reviews first...

Ermes,
Thanks for the pictures, that is definitely not what I have. I appreciate it and know what to look for from the next place I order it from🙏🏽

If that is so, that is very disappointing.... I owe them a call today. That is 1 dead tree and 1 wrong one. If they do not ship both to me(they said they only do credits), I will have to call my credit card company. What a shame...😔

I've searched all pictures possible but do not see any with this red variegation, which leads me to think it was mislabeled. Can anyone confirm? BTW, this was purchased as mysore from TyTy. Thanks!
Alex

Growing this up in Orlando?

Can it handle the cold up there?

I have friends up here with jackfruit, mamey, soursop, and many others loaded with fruits.

6
Interesting, what is different about this one?

Thanks
Joe
It is supposedly the best, sweetest mamey by far and has a very strong floral component. Fruitful trees made 2 videos about this variety.

7
I was lucky enough to find a lone lingering (and hard to get) Jamaica mamey at Xains world nursery this past weekend, on the way home from mango fest. Very excited to finally get one!!!

Those are not cuttings, sorry to be thr bearer of bad news if that's what they told you. Those are pinnacles, which you cannot graft and cannot grow from. Not sure of the mango variety though.

I'll take it! Sending PM shortly.

Got quite a few things growing well from acheta, very grateful. Jumbo Siam cuttings have taken and already produced fruit, tasty too.
Same here. I got jumbo siam, white shatoot, and Frank's mom from him, at least 90% success rate so far, possibly 100%. Top notch!!!

I just wanted to give recognition to this great seller. There was no thread on the super fresh and healthy mulberry scions he sent me, so i made this post to let it be known. I grafted all 4 white shatoots and all of them took! I also rooted the other 2 varieties, which also have taken, or at least have buds coming up. Again, just wanted to put it out there that I am very happy with his great communication and scions. Two thumbs up my friend!!!! 👍👍

You're in luck...

Thanks man. Unfortunately, they only have scions for sale, no trees  :'(. I do not have rootstock available

I believe you can graft it onto any of the moyas which you can easily obtain through ebay or etsy...much cheaper than getting a Fernandez out right. I was able to graft on a cherilata to a sugar apple no problem; took in a matter of a few weeks.
I like the way you think. I might do just that!!! Thanks for the idea 💡 🙏🏽

I can get you enough, I am in riverview.  I would love to have coconut cream scions :)

Selling/trading those scions is illegal. That variety is patented fwiw.

They tried bud grafts, which have failed. Definitely a scammer

Those are failed grafts(rootstock).

For the record, I don't think that is ppk or guava mangos. They seem to be seedlings, not the real deal.
Not necessarily...  both make polyembryonic seeds (certainly PPK, sometimes Sein Ta Lone/Guava) in which case, a seedling (all but one of seedlings sprouted from the seed) could be a true clone, "the real deal".
Also not necessarily always "the real deal" from seeds no matter what. Without DNA testing, it's just a guess and should be named as a "seedling of" so there is no confusion if grafts get sold in the future, since it may not be a clone. We don't need the spread of mislabeled scions going around.
