Official Duguetia Thread

(1/2) > >>

Nick C:
I know Duguetia is still somewhat of a newer species for growers in the United States, maybe even somewhat of a novelty but I figured why not start an official thread dedicated to these trees for any progress, insights, and updates.

In my experience so far, I've lost quite a few when the seed casing either doesn't separate on its own or the cotyledons rot while in the seed. Those that do germinate properly seem to be extremely slow growing.

Here's some species I currently have growing

Duguetia confusa: these are probably coming up on 2 years old

Duguetia sp yellow Joao: I have a feeling this one is going to be reclassified eventually as not an actual duguetia

Duguetia lanceolata

Duguetia stenantha

Duguetia salicifolia

Duguetia marcgraviana "gigante de rondonia"

Recently had duguetia surinamensis sprout but then die back, pretty bummed about that one

Not doing anything special. Just using a basic miracle gro mix from Home Depot and just playing the waiting game. I’d say almost all of these took 5-7 months to germinate with the exception of sp yellow joao, which I’m thinking might actually be in rollinia-esqe part of annonaceae

Can you recommend a source for seeds?

I've gotten all my duguetia seeds from Bellamytrees or Anderson Tropicals
