It is my pleasure do add to the abundance of information on this forum.
Restaurants, events and farms are always good places for networking. He has plenty of those videos in both channels.

Research border crossings with vehicles Brian, thoroughly. Enjoy you trip and share some of with with us, if you wish.

I suggest thorough research on the subject and detailed planning of your route including surprises and redundancies.
If you don't speak the languages, you will need a guide and translator/fixer. If you do speak the languages, you will still benefit from one. You will need a satellite phone. Clothes and equipment for the rain-forest ware down fast. I would take snake proof boots and trousers or some gaiters - this will help with leaches also. You will need to fix your vehicle/s so basic skills for that are required either from you or some one in your group. You will need food and water, water filters, power supplies, knives, cooking supplies, mosquito repellent (i suggest the least poisonous ones and add to that mosquito proof clothing), mosquito nets, hats, sunglasses and safety glasses (for under the canopy), a hammock would probably be useful as well as mule tape and other cordage and redundancies for all of that.

You may also benefit from watching this video:

When you have pondered all of this you might clearer about your budget needs. Afterwards, it would not be unwise to double it.

I suggest going as big as you feel comfortable with a greenhouse. I suggest https://hartley-botanic.com/ even though it might be over your current budget. Perhaps you can find other forms of abundance to add to the money and make it work.

What's a reliable source for the Hawaiian sunset papaya? I like them, but didn't bother growing because store bought was fine and easier. However this year the papaya in stores were terrible, so I want to grow some.

University of Hawaii will send you Home Garden Packets (HGP) for several varieties at very affordable prices.

Rarepalseeds has them listed. They are out of stock at the moment, but that means that you will get fresh ones if you ask them to notify you when they are available.

The seeded ones are the ones to plant. Proliferating genetic diversity is part of what makes plants so great.

Again, just an option. Things can be better than we can imagine if we allow our selves to be open to all the possibilities that we don't know.
