I want to plant a Mamey Sapote and a White Sapote. How much room will they need? How small can I reasonably prune them?
I don't need a ton of fruit, just for my family.

Thank You!

I kept my Sue Belle white sapote at 10 feet. It was very vigorous though so I needed to prune about every six months.  It took a good prune though with no problems.

Great, thank you!

Does anyone have any experience with Mamey Sapote?

I've heard it likes to grow large.  You should probably carefully select the variety.  There's a new one they call Pumpkin Pie that's one of the smaller varieties if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks, John! I already got a Pantin (Key West) Mamey Sapote, I am just trying to figure out where to plant it!

Pumpkin pie or Viejo would be your best bet.

Pantin will want to get large.

Only advice is to start tip pruning early.
