It's been raining & windy here and some of my branches from the KT3 & KT9 have too many fruits hanging, so I need to trim some branches before they break off. So next week after the rain stops, I will be selling a limited quantiy of cuttings from my seedling trees to registered forum members.

I do not plan to sell any loquat cuttings this year, but due to the weather, I will share this rare selection to our members. KT3 fruit shape is elongated, large, flesh is white/light yellow. Taste is very good. KT9 fruit looks similar to Big Jim but fruit seems to be a little larger, could be a cross of Big Jim with one of the other 50 varieties that was grafted on my tree at the time I planted the seeds. KT9 has orange flesh, very sweet, some people say it is one of the best tasting, no tartness when ripe. I would rate both of these in my top 5 best tasting of the 25 seedling trees that have fruited for me.

Closed now.

It's been windy here and some of my branches from the KT1-Kosmic loquat have broken so I will have scionwood for sale this week.

I do not plan to sell this seedling variety for the rest of this year so anyone who wants it should buy it now. This tree is one of my most productive tree I have, it has so many fruits each year that I need to watch how many fruits are on each branch or it will break off.

https://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=50481.0

======================

I'll give additional information on this later tonight. Also will post some photos of the cuttings, size of small box and medium box cuttings.

======================

Here's are some pointers from Hoang on best method to root/graft the cuttings, and then once it grows into a vine, how to get fruits to set.

1. To root cuttings in a pot, use a mixture of coco mix/coir and potting mix. Ratio should be 4:1. Keep temperature above 60F. Should root in 2+wks.

2. I have also rooted these cuttings in jar of water, then moved them into a pot.

3. To graft cuttings, it can be grafted on passiflora (i.e. Frederick, Red Rover). Use scion cutting with 2-3 leaf buds. After attaching to rootstock, cover with a plastic bad. This worked fine for me with Hoang's p. decaisneana.

4. Best chance for fruit, if it flowers in July/August. To force flowers you can feed manure 1/2 feet away from vine trunk.

5. To set fruits, hand pollinate with P. alata, PQML, P.decaisneana. I tried hand pollination using its own pollen and it did not set fruit.

Can anyone help me identify this fruit on the tree. It may be a grapefruit or pomelo.

I will not be able to tell what fruit yet, when it is ripe I should be able to taste it.
This fruit is interesting in that it has the pitam (tip) that I don't see in most fruits.

Buddha's Hand citrus fruit, anyone else growing this one?

I'm not sure what use there is, maybe ornamental. If you grow this fruit, please mention how you use the fruit.

-symbol of happiness and long life, good fortune.

I grafted a few branches with the Buddha's Hand and got my first fruit this year. Here's some photos of the only fruit.  If you have fruits, please post some photos of your Buddha's Hand.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Makrut lime
« on: November 22, 2022, 06:21:56 PM »
I have a Makrut lime tree which has been giving some fruits. I know people like to use the leaves for cooking, dishes.

I wanted to ask if anyone ever use the juice from this fruit. It seems to have lots of juice in each small fruit so it is nice, but I didn't know if it can be used for anything.

Here's my fruit photos.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Yucatan Custard Apple Hybrids ?
« on: November 21, 2022, 12:45:45 AM »
Does anyone have Franks seedlings of these yucatan custard apple hybrids?

1. Uxmal rojo
2. Tizimin rojo
3. Merida amarillo

He was selling 12 seedling trees in 2020 and i wanted to see if anyone that purchased it can provide status of how their tree is doing now.

I got 2 from Frank, the Uxmal rojo and Merida amarillo, but the Uxmal died so I only have Merida now. My tree is in a pot, grew to about 5 ft tall now.

Anyone know when these seedlings would start to fruit?

66
I had to remove more branches from my KT3-Sheri Lynn loquat tree today..

This is a new variety introduction from my seedling collection. It is one of my favorite loquat fruit, very good taste, texture is more like a Vista White, flesh is white, fruit size medium.

The grafts and tree are a vigorous grower, much more than other varieties I grow.

Sale is Closed now.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Deleted -- Contest #8 - CLOSED

===================
Contest will end on OCt 31.

It looks like i can take a few more cuttings from my Peluche grafts so I will have this last contest for the year again for a chance to win a free Peluche scion cutting.

This loquat cutting will be from my grafted tree that is a proven Peluche with the large orange flesh fruits. The origin of this Peluche source is Adam (Flying Fox Fruits). My tree has fruited for 2 years, currently has many large green fruits on them now. When the fruits ripen, I will post some photos and follow up on the taste comparison to my other varieties. Last year I gave it a taste rating of 8-9 out of 10 (best). I do not taste any funny taste, or mushy texture that a few members here have stated, maybe they have a problem with their rootstock? If there is any flavor/taste that is negative, I will mention it on my review this season.

Here's the free contest rules:
1. Only open to forum members that have been a member for at least 1 year. month
2. For those who live in contiguous (lower 48 states) USA.
3. You will need to pay for handling/shipping of $11, USPS priority mail, small box.
4. Cutting will be 1/4"-3/8" hardened wood. Tree is a vigorous grower.
5. Contest will go on until some lucky person guesses the correct answer.
6. You must post your guess here, do not send me a PM.

I have the right to refuse to offer this to anyone that is on my bad (no sell) list.

7. Pick a number in the range of 1-100, only TWO guesses per member.

-> I will use a random number generator to pick the winning number now.
I will check in each day to see if anyone has won. Once there is a winner, I will post it, and send a PM to the winner. The winner has 1 week to confirm they want the cutting.

73
Anyone growing either Younghan's Gold or Supersweet white sapote?

I have both, also Bonita Springs. Just wondering if anyone has tasted these two Florida varieties and which one they liked better.

This is the first year I have fruits that will grow to full size on my grafts, so I hope to do a taste comparison in a month or so and report my findings. If you have any photos of the fruits, I would like to see it so please post it here.
