I need help identifying this type of mango
« on: July 17, 2024, 12:36:00 PM »
Hi all,

I am looking for a type of mango but I have not been able to find the variety name of it. In Guatemala, this is known as "loofah mango", "milk mango" or even "string mango" (Mango de pashte, mango de leche or mango de pita). They also have this in India, known as "Sugar Cane mango" or "little mango" (Cheruku Rasalu or Chinna Rasalu).

The special thing about this mango is that it is 'sucked' before it is pealed and eaten. The mango is usually mashed a little bit and then a hole is made on either end of the mango and all the juice is sucked. After all juice is gone, it can be pealed and eaten.

Does anyone have any leads on the name of this mango?

Probably not the same but I can think of 2 varieties where you are able to suck the pulp out, one is Julie, and the other is Rapoza.
