Even on the same trees fruit production varies drastically. Back when I lived in WA, some summers I found many trees absolutely loaded with cherry plum fruits painting the sidewalks purple, and other years they were barren besides a few for the birds. Most of them were Thundercloud, but other varieties seemed to fare about the same year to year.

Just got mine in and these were awesome to try  :)  They were super fresh and very juicy. Definitely an awesome experience to try with my family; I've been waiting ever since the Weird Explorer video from a ways back. Thanks to RevivalR00ts!

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Any interesting grape varieties ?

I just started a diamond muscat that I'm pretty excited about. Cotton Candy seems to be relatively easy to obtain from overseas and is pretty tasty. I've heard many European nurseries sell it even though it's still under patent from IFG which is why it's so easy to find.

I've got mushroom herb, but sadly not local. I've sent it to a few FL members though, so maybe one of them will be closer.

Definitely not a spammer here. Pretty sure my sales and customers prove that.

I think Jake just replaced a bot's post with "spammer"; he's not accusing you of being a spammer  :)

Any member who could trade oyternut seeds

I'm not familiar with oysternut so could you please provide us with a Latin name for this species?

TIA

Probably Telfairia pedata

Also had a great experience and received my seeds well-packed and labeled with incredibly generous extras. Very excited to try growing this species! Thanks  :)

If growing from seed be aware that the seeds germinate best if they're fresh. I've tried a lot of the common vendors and unfortunately have received lots of misidentified seeds and haven't had any luck with germination.

11
As always seeds arrived well-packaged and labeled and with tons of extras. Lots of germination already, so I'm excited to grow some cool new species. Thanks!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Fermented fruit juice

If you haven't already, I recommend using some to make kombucha - it's super easy and tastes delicious, and you can let the fermentation go as long as you want.

Necroing this thread in hopes of reviving the search. Has anyone had luck tracking down specimens? I hear it's common in Brazil, but seeds and plants remain elusive  :-\

Yes, GrowQuest aka FraudQuest! That guy is GARBAGE! He acts like an expert. All he knows is how to rip people off!

Out of curiosity what did this huckster scam people out of?

Looks like quite a bit:

There's a seller from this forum selling cinnamon cuttings for a good price here.

I just started some cinnamon seeds I got from Etsy here and had great luck with 3/6 sprouted already.

I'm also on the hunt for true star anise. Logees, SowExotic, TopTropicals, and Hirts all carry it but have been out for a while, and MaltaSeeds sold me mislabeled carob seeds instead :'(

Where were the seeds collected from? I definitely want to grow out some pawpaws but since I'm so far south I'd likely need to find some from the south east region to have a good chance of getting fruit here. I'm in the Florida panhandle. I do have 2 trilobas in the yard. One is doing very good the other is doing OK. I had gotten the select seedlings from just fruits and exotics. They did flower the last 2 years but no fruit set. Maybe because they don't flower at the same time for whatever reason.

These ones are from Williamsburg, VA. Fruit set is definitely sporadic unless you have a big stand of them.

It's that time of year again and I foraged a ton of wild paw paw (Asimina triloba) fruit. If anyone is looking for fresh seeds shoot me a message and I'd be happy to work out a trade. Cheers!

EDIT: All gone for now. Thanks!

Looks like damson plums I've had in the past.

Made it in safely and in great condition - would definitely order from NurCar again! Hopefully I can pick up one of their nice osmanthus varieties on a road trip in the future.

23
Just got my order in from last week and it arrived safely and with extras. Thank you :)

24
Looks like Hemidesmus indicus is back in stock at NurCar! I just picked one up and will let you know how it goes.

Just got my order with lots of extras super quickly. It was awesome to be able to try out such rare tropical fruits when it's cold and rainy here. Thanks so much!  :)
