Wax apple

I have a mature wax apple that is approx 6 years old.  It produced fruit for the first time last year and has been a very happy plant.  It lost all its leaves this winter but that is typical.  We had 1 night that it may have dropped to freezing.  This spring it started to produce new leaves then most turned brown and fell off, it produced some flowers and then most dried up. Im.not sure what's wrong.

Wax apple is very sensitive to cold.  It only need one night to cause your problem.  Scratch the dark.  If it is a light brown, then the cold was enough to cause die back, which is bad.  You should not plant it in open space like that.  You need to plant near some sort of structure like trees or home or protect it during cold season.  You should not plant in a corner that collect cold air as well.
