Alano Sapodilla Fruit set
« on: September 12, 2023, 03:12:25 PM »
This year, my alano sapodilla has thousand of flowers but no fruit set.  All the buds seems to be drying and dying off.  Is there a way to improve the fruit set?  I give it extra water & fertilizer this year.  Does it need to be cross-pollinated?  Location zone 10a/b.

My Alano sets fruits with no issues. I believe sapodillas need humidity to set fruits. In order to increase humidity around my sapodillas, I planted a bunch of Mexican sunflowers and installed misters (foggers) to each tree. I have my foggers on twice a day. I use these types of nozzles because I have a surplus of them. Used to install them in our commercial greenhouse operations. But you don't have to use these types. Any foggers from Amazon would do. Good luck.
