Looks a bit like bay rum. Do the leaves give a smell when you crush them? Maybe a picture of the whole tree would help.

Definitely something I’d be interested in attending. I’m down in Broward.

I haven’t tasted it but I found one through guavaking.com. He’s located in central Florida on the east coast. Nice guy, willing to answer any questions you have.

Tommy Atkins? You have to be joking

My mom planted it years ago, I’m not a fan, honestly been thinking of doing a big chop and grafting into it. The fruit takes so long to ripen that the squirrels hollow them out. Add to that the danger of one of them taking you out if it falls on you.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Best tasting mangoes in S. Florida?

Been wondering what some of you think are the best tasting and producing mango varieties here in south Florida? I have a few older trees and have started some newer ones. Currently have Angie, Bombay, orange sherbet, lemon zest, Pickering, nam doc mai, cotton candy pina colada, mahacanook, alfonso, pineapple pleasure, Tommy Atkins, three unknown varieties, and just ordered a peach cobbler and guava from tropical acres for spring.

I’ve been interested in trying to graft onto a couple trees I have but can’t decide on which. Any absolute favorites from what you have?

[/quote]From your experience growing mangos, which do you consider the dwarf varieties?

I like Pickering as for as size and flavor. I’ve used this page to look at characteristics to chose some new mangoes, plus a little side research once I’ve seen some that look appealing.

Hello,

How long before they are fruiting since they’re from seed? Also, how old are the plants?

Thanks,
