Psidium firmum plants for sale
« on: June 14, 2021, 09:43:01 AM »
Howdy everyone,

I've got some really nice Psidium firmum plants that are from my own home grown fruits.  Physiologically stronger as the parent and the seedlings have been grown out in my zone 9b climate.  This is claimed to be one of the best tasting guava species.  It is a very delicious, albeit, small fruit but it grows in big clusters all over the small shrub as it is a prolific flowerer.

Feel free to reach out with any questions!

Just curious, how similar are these in taste to cattley guava?  I live in Hawaii and the cattley guavas grow wild everywhere, so don't need any more of them :)

They are definitely different than cattleya.

I kinda usually get a touch of asstringency from P. cattleianum and some sweet flavor that is sometimes remniscent of strawberry.

P. firmum is a pretty sweet and slightly tart species without any astringency. It's definitely a unique flavor and it's really hard to say much else beyond that as I feel we all can pick up different flavor profiles.  There's been a few threads on here where people talk about them and apparently they are one of the better tasting Psidium spp.
