I am yet to taste the
Diospyros melanoxylon fruit. Waiting to get some fresh fruits in the coming season.
My friend, who shared the seeds, said that size of the fruits varies between that of a golf ball and a medium sized Persimmon.
The skin is rougher and tougher than that of a Persimmon, which is not usually consumed though edible.
The flesh is sweet, juicy and delicious. The flesh to seed ratio is not that great when compared with Persimmon.
Diospyros, Greek ‘dios’ (divine), and ‘pyros’ (fruit), referring to the excellent fruit of the genus.
How is the fruit of this one?
