Probably location specific for each home depot but they came and went quickly here a month or two ago and I have not seen any since.

2
Oh man...gotta have it. I will be using a permit. If anybody wants help to bring these in let me know.

I'll take 3 as well.

3
These are both sold now.  I saw my Stellatus stand is pushing another pup but it will probably be a while before I can cut it.

4
Still some time to get your orders in, seeds going quick! Don't forget there's Orangey and Fuyu as well as Jumbo and Regular Luc's still if you missed out on our last group order!

No worries already got those.  Just want the new ones haha.

5
Dang here we go again.

Put me in for group order if still available.
Morir soņando: 5 seeds
Mango: 5 seeds
Jumbo Orangey: 5 seeds

Stenocereus Stellatus (red flesh):

Stenocereus Queretaroensis (unknown color - has not flowered yet):

Stenocereus Alamosensis with buds:

Stenocereus Gummosus:

Stenocereus Fimbriatus syn Heptagonus:

Stenocereus Aragonii:

Stenocereus Chacalapensis:

Stenocereus Pruinosus:

Stenocereus Standleyi:

Stenocereus Griseus:

I have some other smaller ones like Fricii and Martinezii and a few other colors/species as well.  I don't get around to taking much pictures of them because they are all pretty slow, but the flowers look great and seem to attract the local pollinators.

Had a pitaya from the market last week, and unfortunately was pretty aweful

Too ripe maybe? Or was it the taste? I find a little variability with them some you get a more bland taste like the grocery store dragonfruit, others I get that creamy raspberry like sorbet flavor.  Have to eat them fast too, they have extremely short shelf life though refrigeration helps.

I may head down to Tijuana eventually again to see if I can score some Pitaya Agria, not many people have seemed to try that one.

It was probably picked unripe for better transport. No flavor or sweetness.

I must ask you about Gummosus! Is it sweeter than other stenocereus? I have heard such conflicting things online about it. Agria means sour, yet I have seen and heard multiple accounts of it being very sweet. Sources online say it is even sweeter than Thurberi. What is your experience tasting it?

No idea.  I have been trying to find it but it may not just be in season just yet.  I have never seen it for sale in the states and the only place you can probably find it reliably is in Baja where it is native to.  I have one decent size one growing it is well rooted now and putting on new growth but like most of the Stenocereus they are slow.

Very nice Cipocereus!  Mine is non-grafted and grows pretty slow.  However, it did survive winter temps outdoors which is nice and did not even have any purple hue from the cold.

Stenocereus are starting to bud in California right now.  My S. Alamosensis already had some buds popping up, Stellatus probably will a bit later on when summer heat kicks in I can't remember exactly but was flowering pretty heavily last year.  Now is a fantastic time of year to root some cuttings.  Currently rooting new Stenocereus sp. and S. Standleyi.

Would be cool to see a pic of the Stenocereus

I will have to snap a few pictures soon, I have not taken any in a while.  I will also be parting with a pup or two very soon so keep an eye out if interested.

Everything looks so green and glowing.  Seems like the climate over there really picks up speed of growth for plants. Your Garcinias are doing laps on mine!

13
I do not know how this one is yet but someone is sending me seeds.  Best guess at this point is to graft (if compatible) onto cherimoya or annona montana and pray.

14
It's still a bit early to tell but I think I got a successful take (or two) on seedling rootstock.  Thanks again!

15
Really nice update videos.  Your trees look great. I bet the heavy mulch helps out a lot because I know it gets absolutely cooking out there in the summertime.

16
You can add me for Vitex Doniana and Uvaria Chamae.

17
Seems like most of us are familiar with Achacha.  I have heard though that despite it being touted as a common name for Garcinia Humilis that they are actually not the same species of plant.  That Achacha would be Garcinia sp. Achacha and Garcinia Humilis is a different tree that is not as commonly cultivated.  Also I came across a listing for a Garcinia Humilis cultivar on Bellamy's site.

So is this sp. Achacha or is this Garcinia Humilis?

Common names make things blurry so just wanted to see if people can confirm if there is in fact a difference.

A lot of those nurseries are in Vista so you should be able to knock out a few of them in a day if you have the time to spare. I did a day trip to visit a bunch of them, I think Clausen's Nursery has a bunch of old fuerte trees on the property and was cool to walk around.

Not a nursery/garden suggestion but if you want to buy fruit, Specialty Produce can have some interesting/rare stuff. It is pretty expensive though.

I actually did go to specialty produce! yeaaaa it was expensive ._.

Definitely expensive but they carry stuff that no one else really does in this region (heck maybe even the state).  They should be getting some more tropical fruits in the summertime, I have seen stuff like Abiu, Custard Apple, Salak, and Achacha for sale but it goes fast because supply is limited.  It's a good way to try fruit and decide if it's worth growing out.

I was reading where the offspring of anomaly didn't show the same precociousness. Is that the case, or have  those trees begun showing at least improved fruit production/flowering?

Can Jaca Cacao be realistically grown in a pot and be brought indoors in winter?

How large does the Atherton oak get when it starts producing nuts, and what is its cold tolerance?

Interested in all three, provisionally.

define "monster." i'm curious. i have friends here (in Hawaii of course) fruiting cacao in 3 gallons.

@bloom and sprout-the atherton is a friend's tree. i believe it's larger

There was someone in Santa Barbara that posted a pic of a monster sized Cacao in a pot that they brought in for winter.  It's doable but you would need the room for it.  Atherton Oak don't know much but might be similar requirements to Macadamia since they are somewhat related.

Monster by California standards anyways.  It was someone that posted here within the last few years but I don't think they are very active or if they even are at all anymore.  Maybe someone can find the pictures but it's buried in the forum.  I'm sure it's not as precocious as one would be in Hawaii, we just get too chilly in the winter and too arid at times outdoors.  Even still, there are many example of ones fruiting indoors or in a greenhouse here.

I think a good amount of these species are a tad bit too tropical for west coast.  The only ones I am growing out are wax jambu and Syzygium Wilsonii.  I imagine Wilsonii will be more or less like Lilly Pilli in terms of flavor which is not much to begin with.  That being said, in terms of ornamental value it is one of the most attractive IMO.  I'll have to share some pictures of it, putting out new foilage right now.

Anyone have luck with seeds from Mexico without a permit?

Just do the seed lot permit online it's free, you don't want to wait a month just to find out customs destroyed them.  Raul is one of the best sellers when it comes to dealing with that, never had an issue getting though USDA.

22
Guessing 96.  Best of luck in school!

probably interested in some Atherton oaks, I keep killing them somehow. What's the secret to getting these past a few inches?

Same here.  I only had 1 sprout then after a few inches took a U turn.

Out of ones I tried-
1. Cherimoya
2. Soursop
3. Atemoya
4. Sugar Apple
