I googled simmonds avocado, and the photos show them to be a bit more oblong and less rounded than this one.

FWIW

The main export is the Semil 34 type, which is harvested from October to January; Hass, which is the most demanded avocado in the world and is produced in the Dominican Republic all year long (whose main destination is the United States); Popenoe, which is harvested from May to July; Simmonds, Pollock and Doctor Dupoi, which have a great acceptance in international markets. The country also grows the Carla variety, which is harvested between March and April.

It looks like a Miguel....which would be possible for this time of the year because of the federal marketing order.

How did you find it's taste?

It's still not ripe yet.

If the fruit yields to mild pressure then it is ripe.

Round shape. Bought at Walmart.
Thanks,

You bought it recently in a California Walmart?   Makes no sense looks like a Carla or a Guatemala seedling but is early for them.

Seems like is over ripe to me. It has the color of a fruit from a tree with Chlorosis or fruit exposed to the sun a lot. Plenty of post harvest anthracnosis growing.  Could be a Simonds that came out a bit out of shape or can be a seedling tree that got picked and packed.

A late season Dupuis, there are some in DR, a lot of importers avoid it because it does not travel well or stores well in cold temps. At some point they stop growing and you get a lot of small fruit.
