Most sought after crunchy Asian guava. It is sweet, tart and the crispiest guava I ever had. 95% of the guava trees I have has been top worked to Crystal seedless. Local nurseries are selling 5 gal trees for $90-$120 if you can even find them. 

Also the most prolific seedlessvbearer. Bears fruit in clusters. Must thin to get bigger fruits. Most of the crunchy seedless guavas are shy bearers.

I am doing some long term planning to start a permaculture food forest on the big island of Hawaii.  Where would durian fruit best in the micro climates throughout the eastern part of the big island?  From what I gathered on the internet, durian can fruit in elevations of 600-900 feet above sea level with 60-150 inches of rain a year.  Temperature should be around 75-90f.  Where on the big island would durian fruit reliably?  Also, what type of climate and elevation deviation can the durian tree tolerate and still produce consistently?

I can’t find a cookie cutter lot where durian will fruit on the big island but I am looking at places like Kurtistown and Mountain view area.  Would durian fruit reliably in these areas?

Durian is the number 1 fruit that I wanted to grow but what about mangosteen?  Does mangosteen have the same climatic requirement as the durian?

I am hoping Oscar/fruitlover and other veteran growers can shed some light on this. Thanks in advance.

I spent over $1000 over the last month on mangos and I feel guilty and a bit selfish.  I am selling some grafted guavas to raise money for more mangos

Crystal Seedless Guavas $60 
Flesh is very thick, crispy, and sweet.  The fruit is virtually seedless with less than a dozen of seeds. 


This cv is extremely prolific.  Fruit needs to be thinned to get larger fruits.

Very large fruit with thick flesh and a burst of complex flavors.  Can be eating green or ripe.  The texture is relatively soft if eaten green.  It's not the crispy type.

Who will be attending this meeting?  There will be a presentation by Tim Thompson on mangos.  I am pretty much a virgin when it comes to growing mango trees.  Just bought an ice cream mango 2 weeks ago.

Anyone whose attending got mango scions to share?  Mango scions are pretty hard to come by.

Anyone have strawberry loquat scion to share?  Please let me know.  I'll pay for the wood and scion.

I have a north facing planter that's pretty much shaded all day because of the cinder block wall but it receives a fair amount of indirect sunlight.  What is a good ground cover for this area?  I want something edible but also will perform well.  I was thinking of pennywort but what other option do I have?
