Give it more sunlight than your average plant and see if that helps maintain the pattern!
I've heard with monstera and I know from experience with tineke rubber trees that lowlight definitely cuts down the amount of variegation

Very cool though, excited to see if it is stable!  ;D

I honestly don't think I've seen hummingbird pictures as good as these (then again I don't go searching) but wow!!

And rob that pineapple is crazy, I seem to never find cool looking caterpillars just lots and lots of wasps :-[, can't forget all the hornworms that destroy my peppers each year  ;) although I'll admit, they are pretty striking

To each his (or her) own...

you dont have the drive or mindset to become plant influencers like us, you don't even know how many bot followers I have.

my ratio makes me look like a bot account 💀

But nah I feel you on the zuckerberg thing, I just find instagram really easy to look for pictures because there aren't too many posted here on a daily basis

Yucca! but you have to add it to the water I think not the soil so I'm not sure if that would work

Apples are good to eat in the morning to wake you up. White sapote and to lesser extent kiwifruit are good before bed.

Mamey fruit (Mammea americana) causes immense stomach pains or some kind of visceral allergic reaction in some people, even lab rodents have died from consuming the pulp...

Ooh! Mammea americana also makes people lose hair and even fingernails in large quantities, good call!

I'd go chicken wire and thread a bamboo pole through it every 10 feet, but I know there's a lot of people that think chicken wire is... ugly ;D

It'd be dirt cheap for what you're trying to do though, hell there's probably people on facebook marketplace that would give it away for free

Meiwa has the tingle, more so in Hawaii than mainland Meiwa

Obscure but lychee can cause encephalitis in malnourished children

I remember reading about that the first time I ate a lychee! Googled it afterward and found that same story. Chemistry is so quirky

Kumquats create a tingling sensation similar to szechuan peppercorns

Never knew that! Been thinking about getting a kumquat tree and this is all the more reason

Personally I think it's not right to categorize items by where they come from; it seems to be a schematics issue. Unless I'm missing something PowerSmart is a US company anyway?

tho I will say, given the 92 1-star reviews that all detail the flawed front axle design I'd rather spend a little more

Where are these reviews?  Amazon? PowerSmart is located in Illinois. Where my mower was shipped from. The YouTube reviews are solid.

https://www.amazon.com/product-reviews/B0BVBN7M8V/ref=acr_dp_hist_1?ie=UTF8&filterByStar=one_star&reviewerType=all_reviews#reviews-filter-bar

The reviews come from your own link in the first post, 92 1-star reviews on walmart's website

Hey everyone, I was very surprised to learn that loquats contain a sedative that will make you very sleepy if you eat too many!
Does anyone else have some cool examples/side effects of the chemistry in fruit?

Here are some others I've thought of:
- Grapefruit affecting medication (it blocks a super important digestive enzyme)
- Starfruit and Caramboxin
- Annonas and Acetogenins
- Garcinias are pretty famous for making that weight-loss drug that caused liver failure

Any other interesting ones?

17
Ok I gotta have that duguetia trunciflora...

18
I have 2 imbes planted in the same 5 gallon pot, they seem to have not noticed so far as they push really often!

I've heard that for dioecious garcinias, the female leaves are usually pointy and male leaves are usually rounded at the tips; can anyone confirm this pattern?

I saw a technique where you cut off the whole trunk down to flush with soil, then cut 1 inch into the base like you're cutting a pizza

gets you 8 pups that are all ready to go in 6-8 weeks, https://youtu.be/ZSxfMNmw9Qo?t=209 this guy actually cuts all the roots off and everything but a different guy does it with the roots in the ground which I think would be way better. Probably common knowledge but I thought it was so cool the first time I saw it, couldn't find the original video I wanted but same concept. I'm planning on trying it out this year! just got my first pup off of namwah to put back in a pot and have the mother in the ground now, very excited

YES!!!! Thank you, I've been really careful only every 4-6 days, I uncover the very top part to check for root growth and if its still alive but was very surprised this time!

I don't know if this sounds dumb but would it be a good idea to maybe rub off the smaller growths? I don't think it'd be best for the plant to throw out 10 new shoots or if it'll prioritize by itself but its also insanely stressed and I've went way too mad scientist already :)

21
Update: hate to get my hopes up but I was watering it today when…

Is this going to be new shoot growth!?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Illegal or Not?? Mango Scions
« on: March 03, 2023, 10:39:35 AM »
So what about if you sold seeds of coconut cream? Would that technically be legal? "the inventor must have actually asexually reproduced the plant. Asexual reproduction means that the plant is reproduced by means other than seeds" - legal encyclopedia so I don't really know where polyembryonic seeds fall into

Hey great job!!!!!!!! a 34 got me accepted to the school of my dreams, but got me a full ride to a respected school but not nearly as well known

I ended up taking the fullride, I don't know what your prospects are for college but I heavily suggest going that route because it saved me so much heartache, especially with the costs of colleges being yanked up higher each year. Everyone's situation is different but just something to consider, either way you should be extremely proud!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Interesting general rootstock ideas
« on: February 27, 2023, 01:55:28 PM »
has anyone tried hackberry? I was surprised to learn it's in the hemp family. I've only seen youtube videos with rave reviews of it but, real question is how dumb would it be to use weed as a rootstock? It grows like, well, a weed. You want a rootstock that matches the growth of the scion but still, just thought it was funny but I guess its not really tropical either lol sorry :P
