Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: African Pride ?

Your fruit has plumb skin like a sugar apple.
Itís an atemoya.

AP is also an atemoya.
Its skin is flat like picture below.

Your fruit is not an AP.

I agree with Seannyís assessment!

Hi Raul,

Do you still have seeds available?

Good looking fruit and taste report, Mike! Did you give your sugarlata a name? The scions you sent me in 2020 are doing okay here in SoCal.

Congrats Kevin! Do you have a plant availability list?

Hey Kaz,

Your fruit looks like AP to me. Hope your scions took 👍🏼

I have not noticed more than three petals on atemoya flowers but for what itís worth, Iíve seen several 4-6 petal flowers on cherimoyas, specifically on my fino de jete tree.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Is this ElBumpo?

It does look similar to El Bumpo however here is a picture from the University of California Riverside for comparison. As you can see, the photo has more pronounced protuberances.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Lara Farms tree source

I also wanted to share that I ordered from Lara Farms after seeing such positive reviews. I am not willing to pay so much for mango trees here in SoCal (sometimes Iíll see prices over $300 for a 15 gallon mango tree but the tree itself is so small) and I do not mind buying smaller trees because Iím playing the long game (donít mind waiting a while before theyíre ready to hold fruit). Anyway, the trees arrived in great condition and are currently acclimating to my yard under the shade. I wanted to share pictures of the shipment in case any one else is looking to purchase from Julian and was curious to see how it all looks. I would recommend Lara Farms to anyone looking for smaller grafted mango trees.

Iíd recommend Pierce, Dr. White, and El Bumpo!

Congrats shmojojojo & thanks Kaz!

Mark - great photos thanks for sharing. I was able to taste Ongís Sour N Sweet and it has an amazing flavor very similar to cherimoya. Its texture is chewy like an atemoya. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to others looking for an atemoya with a cherimoya flavor profile. The only other atemoya I can think of that tastes so similar to cherimoya would be ĎDream.í

Kaz - scions I purchased from you from this post are doing great. I grafted the Red Himalayan on to an everbearing mulberry rootstock. Itís starting to push new growth but I havenít seen any fruit yet. Picture below for reference. Thanks again 👍🏼

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Annona Scion For sale or trade

Bush2Beach is a great seller with quality scions - multiple sizes available with multiple buds per scion and well wrapped too. I ordered Dream scions from him a couple years ago and the tree is doing great. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for cherimoya/atemoya scions 👍🏼 (The pictures below are of the Dream tree grafted onto cherimoya rootstock and a picture of the fruit ((hand pollinated)).

For cherimoyas, that slight color change to yellow/green is a factor I use to determine when to pick!

Sounds like the moyas could have been picked too early.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Questions on caimito...

While the size is impressive, I am in awe of that color, Mike T!. Nice looking caimito.

Here's a picture of the bare-root trees for those inquiring. Thanks again, Ken - you the man!

Hi Kevin,

How would you describe the taste and texture?

Hi B2B, I'm probably late to the party but was wondering if you have any scions still available and any that haven't pushed yet?

Just sent payment. Thanks again for the great work on this!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Birula vs Lisa
« on: April 01, 2021, 02:23:07 PM »
There is someone on Fb selling a variety called ďLisa PrideĒ and immediately after seeing the photos, I was thinking that it looks very similar to Birula. Here are the photos for reference (they are not my own). What do you think? Could Birula and Lisa Pride be the same?

Thanks for putting this together beicadad. I'd be interested in:

Dongkui: 2 trees
Black Peak: 2 tress

I'm also located in San Diego, CA.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Rollinia hybridization

Last year I crossed rollinia with cherimoya and had a single fruit set. It grew to a marble size before aborting. Here's a picture a week or two before that happened.
