I got two of these from FFF I think about 7/8 years ago. Both were the same 1 gal size when I got.

The bigger one flowered about 3 years ago. Was able to taste the fruit last year and this year. It had ample amount of blooms but very few fruit set.

Have a few bunches of off season Chuleon fruits. Taste pretty good, only problem is too many cracks. Good news is, it's blooming again.  That means more fruit by October

Off-season longans sounds really good. I wonder if the mild winter is causing Chu Leon to flower all year. I regret cutting their flowers last winter

Getting back on topic my longans are barely pushing out what may look like a mix of blooms and leaves but still too early to tell.

Emperor lychees has no blooms but just leaves.  However, they bear in alternate years for me. Last year I had my most productive Emperor lychee crop.  Nice golf ball size fruits.  However, they are more sweet tangy compared to other lychee.

My seedling lychee is in full bloom.  Here's a current pic.  It fruited for the first time in 2020.  The fruits are delicious. It's the dry flesh type that doesnt leak juice.  I'm looking forward to the fruits again.

How long did it take for this to start flowering?

7
Chompoo does well for me. It fruited almost every year except for last year when it had a major pruning. Have you tried fertilizing with bloom booster in late spring?

Biew kiew longan is blooming again after heavy pruning two years ago.  Last year it did not flower.

Sri chompoo  longan flower panicles are just coming in

Sweetheart lychee panicles emerged early this year but started to bloom about a week or two ago.

Hope everybody is doing well.

Those are looking great!! Looks like you'll get a bumper crop.

You're looking for Java Plum scions?
I have a grafted Jambolan from River's End Nursery in Texas before they retired.
They planted many seeds from Belize and India years ago and use the trees for wind breaks.
They called their bigger fruited trees Duhat like in the Philippines and used their wood for grafting.

I was able to procure some java plum scions. thank you for your offer!

ALL SCIONS PENDING

Not sure if fruits will set and hold. However, this is the earliest bloomer I've seen. The tree is in my possession now but i didnt plant the seed. My friend assured me that a seed was planted there instead of a sucker from the bigger tree in the same pot.

Have you tried clearing the dirt on top to see if it’s on its own roots? Could be branch that formed lower. This is incredible if it’s actually it’s own plant. From the looks of it, it doesn’t seem to be on its own

The tree is not mine. I didnt want to risk it. My friend allowed me to borrow it so that I can make an airlayer for myself.

The bigger tree is sweet cherry from Ongs. We'll know if the fruit looks and taste different.

xshen, Wow, nice looking lychee trees. I don't know why my large Brewster tree does not flower until later in the year.

I did notice my longans are starting to have some flower buds growing.

Try girdling one or two branches next year to test and see if that will get them to bloom on time.

Thanks Seng. I found my Java plum.

My thai longans took a big hit from the Santa Ana winds - half of the canopy got blown away.

The wind pretty much completely defoliated my jabos in the front yard.

Hi xshen,

I want to order 5 crystal seedless scions.  Can I do local pick up like last time?

Do you still have Shi Hip(石峡)longan scions available?

Thanks,
Al

Unfortunately I am unable to meet up with anyone at this time. All orders will have to be shipped.

If you are local, $2.5 for first class shipping will save us both time and gas.

Longans are flowering right now. I can sacrifice one or two blooming branches. Sak Ip scions are $8 ea.

I've had success with whip grafts around spring time. Now is good. graft near the base of the rootstock or onto scaffold branches.

Don't graft onto the terminal branches of a bushy tree. The graft may take and stay alive but will not grow well and will not put out any real vegetative growth.
