for the first time, I'm going to offer some Red Jaboticaba (Plinia cauliflora hybrid) fruit for sale!

The recently planted grove at my nursery is not yet in production, but I have some large trees in pots that are, and now that production has been consistent, and heavy, I'm finally able to sell a few crops from my largest trees.

I have a decent crop right now that needs to be picked and shipped as soon as possible.

the reason I have never offered fruit for sale in the past, is because the seeds are worth too much money ($2 ea), and my production was limited.

HERE IS THE DISCLAIMER:

first I apologize for the lengthy disclaimer, but it's a complicated scenario.

the fruit is highly perishable...and needs to be shipped to the destination within at least 1-3 days.  There will be a chance that some of the fruits are slightly fermented, or broken, but the majority of fruits should be good to eat.

in order to keep the fruit at the lowest price possible, I'm going to offer small flat rate boxes, shipped via USPS priority mail.  The grand total will be $23 for a box full.  It will be as full as possible, without crowding, or crushing the fruits.

also offering overnight shipping to most locations in FL, grand total is $27, this is the service I recommend for most of my FL customers!

I will try my best to make sure they arrive ok...BUT...I CAN NOT GUARANTEE THE FRUITS WILL BE IN PERFECT EDIBLE CONDITION!

I CAN GUARANTEE YOU WILL GET YOUR MONEY'S WORTH IN SEED VALUE ALONE!  EACH BOX SHOULD CONTAIN AT LEAST 30-50 VIABLE SEEDS.

if you don't want to risk sending the fruits via USPS priority, because you are at a location that takes 3 days to deliver, we can explore the options of shipping via UPS next day air, or 2nd day air...I offer extremely low rates, that are half of the normal price.  I can overnight to most locations for a grand total of approx $30- $33.

PRICES SUBJECT TO CHANGE!

Please email requests to FlyingFoxFruits@gmail.com

sorry I can't ship to CA and AZ

here are pics of the fruits, and the trees:

PLEASE WASH FRUIT BEFORE EATING! (JUST RINSE WITH ROOM TEMPERATURE WATER THOROUGHLY)

PS:
My trees have not been treated with any pesticide (in the past 2yrs), and have not been fed any synthetic fertilizers (although I'm not certified organic), I try to avoid using any pesticides if possible, but have used them in moderation in the past when required to control fire ants.

Thanks, brah!

Hoping my red jabo can put on some girth and flower next spring so it will be great to taste the fruit

Oops, I forgot to mention,

FL customers can get overnight shipping for very cheap $23 per box grand total, via UPS ground.

So it maybe worth it to pay $23 instead of $20 (for 2 day priority)

But this loophole is only for FL customers

thanks for the responses, I think this crop is sold out, but I am taking pre-orders for the next crop! (no deposit necessary, just email request, first come first serve)

there will definitely be a waiting list.

I will start to offer other varieties and species if possible! (and even some other fragile fruits, like Starcherry, and Pitanga.)

stay tuned.

nope!

u got me in the nick of time!!

your package is going out today, now I really am sold out, until the next crop (not long at all, maybe 20-40 days??)

(I will start to ship some other fragile fruits soon)

I forgot to weigh the fruit, to calculate the approximate price per pound...but based on my estimation, it comes out to about $30 per lb, after shipping!  :o

if anyone has a scale to weigh the fruits, I will be curious to know the exact weight.

I can start a waiting list here on the forum, on this thread.

you'd be one of the first (if not the first) person in line.

I should have more fruits within a month or two.

thanks very much for posting a review, it means a lot to me!

Glad the corks worked!  I had to figure out a way to reinforce the box so it wouldn't be as easy to crush if the UPS guy stepped on it...LOL...those fruits are too fragile and valuable.

you might notice some of the fruits are sweeter than the others, this is because the fruit i picked was at several stages of ripeness...this is a cool feature about the red jaboticaba, it has low tannin (less astringency), and can be enjoyed at several stages....some like them a little early and tart, but most like them as ripe possible.

This is much different compared to Sabara (the most common type of jaboticaba) you can't really eat them early and green..they need to be ripe all the way...although they can still be enjoyed slightly early, they are never green/red like the Red jabo.

one tree in particular that I was picking fruits from, had the sweetest ripest fruits of the bunch...

let me know if you can tell what i'm talking about.

all the fruits taste good, but some really stand out!

it's hard to let them sit on the tree long enough to develop the sweetest flavor possible..and it's even harder to ship them afterwards...

it took a while to pick the fruits, and pack the boxes, but it was definitely worth it, in the end.

I hope everyone gets their fruit in perfect (or near perfect condition)

if it's legal to ship to France, I'm guessing the cost would be outrageous ($50-60 just for shipping ?)

email me to explore options, we can try to find out if its possible.

but I'm not promising anything.

Yeah...I definitely noticed the different stages.  My first reaction was: ok, these are good and pretty close to the sabaras I had previously.  Plus, I was eating the skins so it got too tannic in taste.  Then, I had a crushed one just to see if it wasn't fermented/spoiled already and VOILA!  That baby was sweet and juicy and exploded with flavor!!!  For the rest of the day, I was seeking out the soft (deflated) ones and spitting out the skins....made the experiecne WAAAAAAAAAAY better.

Thanks, Adam.  You are brave to ship these fragile fruits, but they arrived in great condition (maybe 5 were crushed out of like 60), and all 5 were still very edible.  On top of that, the seeds alone are worth the price of admission!

I can't believe these are virtually everbearing!!
