you are on the list!

thank you!

I will be sure to let you know when I'm ready to ship more fruit...I want to experiment with shipping pitangatuba/starcherry...but it will be a real challenge.

I know I can do it though!  but Shipping must be via overnight UPS...

Adam, you can try the experiment with pitangatuba shipping some to me.  ;)  I love them.

I would think pitangatubas would hold up a lot better than the red jaboticabas, as the first are more firm textured? It's great you're doing this Adam. Will definitely help to popularize both these fruits.

ok...looks like starcherry crop is going to be heavy for the rest of the year...

I just need to keep watering the plants, (twice a day, cuz it's so darn hot, and they are root bound, and we aint been gettin no rain)

I will start to ship some starcherries soon, I will have to start another thread.

BTW, I have lots of starcherry seeds if anyone is looking to buy them...I might just end up planting them all.

hopefully i will have some free miracle fruit to throw in with the orders! and some other fragile small fruits (Zill dark pitanga, Lemon drop mangosteen, rainforest plum, Jamaica cherry)

Keep me in mind for any other fruit shipments as well.   I just noted your address--I lived for 8 years off of Plymouth Sorrento Rd about a mile south of 46.  Right down the road from ya!!   I will have to stop in on my next sojourn to Orlando.

that's the old location, back when I used to rent some space at Green's Nursery!

you should visit Green's still, that is one of the best nurseries in town for the common tropical fruits.

if you ever want to visit, my new location is not far from Orlando, I'm happy to give you a tour and a sample of some fruits...just email to set up an appointment.

Put me on the list, please.  :)

Galka, if the rats don't eat them, there could be a box ready to ship on Monday.

let me know if you are still interested...(sorry the price is going to be adjusted slightly...last time I undercharged by about $1-2 for overnight shipping)

As of now, the grand total for a small box of Red Jaboticaba fruit, is a flat rate of $25 (subject to change) this includes overnight delivery to most locations in FL....although some remote locations aren't eligible for overnight service from UPS.

(i'm still offering $20 boxes shipped via USPS priority, but I recommend the fastest shipping if you can afford it)

outside of FL rates are higher for overnight shipping, bringing the grand total closer to $30-32.

I put out some decon (a teal colored cereal with poison), they seemed to eat it right up at first...

now that the first wave of rats got poisoned, the second wave will be much smarter!

luckily for now they are avoiding the fruits, I suppose most are either dead, or have associated the poison with the jaboticabas...being more timid to eat them now?

I have some traps set up too, but they've been able to avoid them.

and I go out to patrol in the evenings with my pellet gun...

so far so good!

wow that does look healthy!

be sure to keep the interior portions of the canopy pruned very well...it will fruit faster that way.  (I'm sure I'll have to prune my grove about once every 2 month during the growing season, during winter I prune my trees less)

pruning the trees is really easy, and fun to be honest...I don't mind doing it.  You can get creative, and start to shape the tree like an artist!

the Red jaboticaba is one of the most entertaining and rewarding fruit trees to grow, there is always something going on.

if they aren't fruiting or flowering (which they seem to do for at least 8 months of the year) they are peeling, and putting out beautiful new leaves.

ok, next to bat, Fisherking, Robdallek, Qoppa and Mangobaby again!

(the next crop should be enough to fill two boxes)

fruits are ripening up much faster than I anticipated (high heat, and excess moisture really help to hasten the process)

maybe only 10 days from now?

will post an update soon.

Hey Adam, I tried to stop by your place a few times a month ago, but could never make it happen. Fortunately, my schedule is wide open until the end of August. I am very interested in both kinds of boxes. I will be in touch later today, so I can set up a time to finally see your new place.

Brad,

that red jabo looks great!

they seem to stand still during the hottest part of the year...if not regularly watered, the leaves will burn, and fall off prematurely...

but the tree (genus really) is a tank...after they get past the first 2yrs, it can handle  temps over 105F with ease, and intense sunlight exposure is not a problem....as long as the pH and moisture is adequate.
