What garcinias can you grow in SD? Do you have a large greenhouse for them?
I used to have button mangosteen seedlings before they died.

most them do well in shade and filtered light outdoors with the exception of Purple Mangosteen. Winter protection may be needed, however where I live last three years at least has not dropped below 45F in winter.

At least a few. This Madruno is taller than I am , no greenhouse protection, 7 hours north of San Diego.
The tree has apparently hopscotched over CA and looks like it wished it lived in San Diego though. No new growth flush yet this year. Still trying to dial in the best location for it.

Nice.  Which Madruno is it?  Is it one you started from seed?

In Chula Vista in the ground I have a 10 foot fruiting Garcinia Livinstonei, a grafted 3-4 foot Luc's, 3 foot Achacharu, 2 foot G. Dulcis and a couple of 2 foot Luc's. In the green house I have a 4 foot G. gardeneria that I will plant out this spring.

Richard up in the Carmel Valley area probably has the most diverse collection planted out.

This one apparently hopscotched over CA, passing through several forum member's hands before landing in my yard.
Luc's is the only Garcinia I have tried starting from seed.
