I grafted the "Red" on my in the ground Sabara, and the scion really struggles. I think it really needs lower pH water and peat moss. The truncifolia grafts grow amazing and the mother tree is fine.
Neat vid, can I ask how you acidify your water? I'm in a similar condition in AZ

I've been using Advanced Nutrients phosphoric acid which comes in quarts, gallons or six gallon jugs. Just 1ml is enough to treat 2.5 gallons from 8.1 to 5.5 to 6.0 - I use a pipette and a regular ol watering can and take that out to the jabo(s).

I just got a bottle of ph corrector from "general hydroponics" and a ph meter last month. It didn't list any directions on the bottle and I didnt have time conduct any tests. Now I have to find the will to do it this weekend instead of lazily just opening up the tap for water. Thanks for the insight.
