Sapodilla question
« on: July 01, 2021, 09:59:14 PM »
I have a Sapodilla which was grafted but the graft died and a long shoot from the seedling rootstock came out about a year ago. I'm planning to wait to see if it flowers. Does it still take several years for the shoot to flower even if the rootstock has been in the ground for over 5 years? Thanks

I planted a brown sugar seedling 5 or more years ago and it
hasn't flowered yet. Not even sure why I kept it. I read somewhere
it can take up to 10 years to fruit and no gaurantees on the quality
of fruit

Yeah, I'm beginning to think that I'm wasting my time. Thanks for the reply.

To compare
My Thai seedling flowered for the first time this year after 10 years and some small fruits are forming now. Also fruits are forming on my grafted branch with Makok variety in the same seedling after 4 years.

Thanks for all the responses. I will try to graft onto the seedling.
