Best Fruit Places to Visit Near Palo Alto
« on: June 07, 2022, 02:09:33 PM »
Hey All,

Through life's strange turns I am making a move to Palo Alto for a bit- wondering if anyone has decent places to recommend to forage/get new and cool fruits to try-

On my last trip to the bay area I enjoyed some Arbutus unedo from the UCSF campus and also got to try some Syzygium leuhmanii and others from the SF Botanic Garden

Thanks

Join SF Bay Area Tropical Fruit Growers Facebook group for more recommendations. You'd probably have the most luck at the Vietnamese markets in San Jose.

Prusch Park and Quarry Lakes, both should be about 30min to an hour away

I would also recommend Quarry lakes.   Also look into Whiskey Hill Farms - they do work days in the greenhouse every Saturday 10-4

Also in San Jose the flea market has a huge Mexican farmers market where you typically can buy exotic fruits

If you happen to be continuing south on the 101 towards LA, my house is on the way and you're more than welcome to visit in Santa Barbara.

I reccomended Andy's Orchard, which I hope all bay area people get the chance to visit. Best fruits I've eaten, hands down.
