The above link takes you to a research report on a viral vector that contains a gene that can make a seedling bloom in less than a year.  The virus is transmitted by grafting a seedling onto a stock that has been lnfected with it. 
This is then not transmitted via pollen, and rarely via seed.

This was done in Spain, right?  I think this came up on the forum here a few years ago.   I reached out to the author (had to use Google translator, unfortunately) but I never got a response.  Sure would be nice to have access to this for breeding!  Because the vector is a citrus virus, though, I suspect it will never be available to normal folks.
