That is a nice size fruit Adam! Did it have more edible flesh than the normal sized ones?

ya the 7 gram ones are really nice!  but I haven't eaten the record one yet!  they seem to have multiple seeds when they get so large, but still have much more meat!

maybe I will cut it in half and take a pic..and also weigh the seed and skin, to figure out the ratio of edible flesh, as compared to normal sized fruits. the equation is easy to figure out.

And you find no watering down of the flavor of the fruit, right?  That's pretty amazing.  I would love to see the inside of the fruit.  Thanks.

No watering down of the flavor.

but I've never really had a jaboticaba fruit that had a watered down taste, even when soaked in water.

Impressive!  Will have to re-think my plans for a tree that I have in a pot.  Thanks for the pictures and for the inspiration.

Very exciting results, huge fruit, high flesh and full flavor sounds like the proper amount of water is the key.

Are your plants in the fish tank still alive?

I took out the plant that was partially submerged...and left the plant that was totally submerged.   I already know they can have flooded roots, so I deemed this a pointless experiment.

the plant that's totally underwater is doing fine, and just starting to push new leaves.

I think it will eventually die in another 6 months.  it's hard to keep it underwater so long, because mosquitoes accumulate, evaporation and animals drinking, all make water changes and additions necessary.

Add a 10-cent feeder goldfish to your tank; it will eat all the mosquito larva, give the plant a little extra fertilizer, give the animals something fun to look at when they drink and if it dies you have fresh fish fertilizer.

Because of your experiment I'm seriously considering putting cuttings off my Jaboticaba in my indoor fish tank among my other underwater plants...

I'm thinking large size is due not just to lots of water but also lots of nutrients. I say that based on the fact that we gets high rainfall here, and can still have small fruits if they don't get fert.
