So now we know that the correct pronunciation of "Hass" is "haaass" and not "h-ahs."  Yes, it has crossed my mind because I've always heard it both ways.  Now how about the correct pronunciation of "lychee?"  I say it's gotta be "lah-ee-chee" or "lie-chee," and not "lee-chee!"

Amazing how they saved the mother tree of the Washington Navel with the root grafts. :)

And persimmons will always remain one of my favorite fruits, right up there with mangoes, lychees, peaches, plums, and cherimoyas! ;D  (No, let's not start that topic again. :-X)

Good to see Julie Frink. Heard of her many times but never saw or heard her speak.
BTW, its lychee here, pronounced lie-chee. But not saying this is correct pronounciation and other not correct. Every place has different pronounciation...even in China with so many dialects spoken.

I keep my avos to about 12 feet with shepard, reed, hazzard and wurtz doing very well and being productive when they are considered better suited to cooler and drier climates.Sharwil dragged it's sorry arse and recently got the chop.
By the way nobody says harce it is hass.It is best not to copy the name of something exactly how it is said in the place of origin, it must be anglicised. If it were cities should we say Mockba,Roma or Parie?
