With mine I find the fruit is not very sweet as winter begins, its not nice at all. During summer it tastes like caramel flavored popcorn to me, its very nice.

good point!

i notice if the weather is cold, or if we get too much rain...

the fruit is bland.

If you find any cool variations let us know!

-any interesting color variations? (White fruit? Yellow fruit?)

-any trees that make very large fruit??  (What is the largest fruit u have seen?)

-lol...there is a reference to a rare pink flowered type (in Charles Boning's book, "Florida's Best Fruiting Plants"...I'm not sure about the validity of this claim, I've never seen one, or heard of anyone who's seen one

Info I had was the berries are only viable for 24 hours or so. We raised a replacement from windfall a couple times, then for some reason nothing sprouted before one died off. I now have a nursery-bought replacement.

Most of the literature refers to the taste as "cotton candy" like.
which i can see.
Jared Rydelek (weird fruit explorer, and member here) describes it as Strawberry Nesquik"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dabo4F7AupE

I hadnt even thought of Nesquik in years. i didnt know they were still in business
but then i stopped eating meat and drinking milk 25+ years ago.
i guess there is a creamy like texture to it.
