Hi Everyone

I have too many fig trees and need to downsize my collection. These fig trees are in 3-5 gallon pots, some are rooted cuttings and others are grafted.  I would prefer to trade them in exchange for mangoes, Lychee, Cherimoya or other tropical fruit tree. However, if you are interested in a particular fig tree but you don't have any thing to trade, I can still to give it to you.
Send me a PM if interested.
Local pick up in Irvine, CA only

Here is the list

Adriatic JH
Boysen Berry Blush
Bursa Black
Brown Turkey
Del Sen Jaume Gran (DSJG)
Desert King
DFIC 23
Longue d’Aout (LDA)
Panache Tiger
Strawberry Verte
Yellow Long Neck

I have a JH Adriatic which grew out of it's pot and sent roots into ground. It got pretty big and I had to cut the root growing into ground as well as prune it. I think that trunk is about 2". PM me if you are interested. I also have some other varieties but they are not as big

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Anyone still growing Phalsa?

I grow them in coastal CA (10a). For me, they grow slowly as I don't get much heat. They drop leaves and become dormant during winter months. I fertilize them couple times a year.  Fruit is green initially but changes color to red and eventually to purple. They are ripe when color is purple-almost black. They taste tangy and slightly sweet when fully ripe.

Can be transport shock. Generally for plants who are purchased online and shipped, it is a good idea to keep them in the shade for a few days and let them acclimatize gradually before planting them in ground and under the sun.

See Kaz's very helpful guide regarding which mulberries can be rooted and his rooting instructions:

Will be curious to hear your impression (as a fruit expert) about them!

They ran out of Sindhri pretty quickly. In my opinion, Chaunsa is the best.

I see that Mike is still selling them

Certainly expensive for root stocks but this batch is the best I have seen at HD. Many of them had top cut off and had 3-4 branches.  A few had blue rubber bands at top suggesting nursery may have tried to graft on them.

Here is the one I bought.

Was at the Irvine HD (Irvine Blvd/Sand Canyon) earlier today and they still had a bunch of them.  They have bumped up the price and are now they are being sold for almost $50.  Got one and repotted immediately.  Had a great root system.

I saw quite a few in Irvine HD (Irvine Blvd/Sand Canyon) last weekend. There are some nurseries which are starting to carry mangoes grafted on Manila root stock. For example, Mimosa Anaheim had Maha Chanok grafted on Manilla last month. Ricardo's nursery in Long Beach also some times has mangoes grafted on Manila.

Temperate Fruit Discussion / Re: figs, grapes and powdery mildew

I also live close to coast as well but my VDB does not get affected at all with powdery mildew (PM). In fact, most of the figs are not affected by PM. I had grapes which were significantly affected by powdery mildew but you can choose some of the PM resistant varieties

I've seen it at Walter Anderson's in Poway.  TBH, it's easy enough to make yourself.  That's what I do.

I think it's something like:
~32.5% Peat Moss
~32.5% Sand
~5% charcoal
~15% pumice
~15% perlite

Just eye ball it.  Then mix in Osmocote fertilizer.

That is pretty close even though I think, there is not as much sand in it. Recipe I got from his YouTube sessions is 35% peat moss , 30% pumice , 20% perlite, 10% sand , 5% biochar charcoal

Did not receive anything

May be forum's PM function is not working?  Any way, was interested in orange sherbet but it does not seem to be available any more.
