Persian lime problem
« on: October 23, 2021, 01:51:44 PM »
Hello all,

New here. I have a Persian lime tree. Been in the ground 3 years. Year one had a fair amount of fruit. This year it flowered in February and I only have gotten like 3 limes since. Started to yellow a bit so started treating with chellated iron and it got darker. Still not producing fruit though.

What can I do? Please help a newbie out

John

Citrus greening is very prevalent here in Florida and I’ve seen it cause yellow leaves. My understanding is once you plant citrus it’s basically inevitable that your tree will get it unless you keep it under a tent/netting. However a Persian lime with citrus greening can still be productive. I want to plant a line tree for my yard too at some point and will try the netting. If you post pictures it will help

Check for Spider Mites... they are really tiny and red.

Post in the citrus forum to get more responses. I don’t know the answer since I haven’t grown any citrus yet but citrus greening is the main problem here

Yeah, I see some leafminers.  Not a problem unless there are a lot. Imidacloprid or Spinosad will control them.  App timing is critical - spring.  Worst pests are mites, scale and mealybugs.

I see no greening going on.  I do see some nutrition issues.  Peters 25-5-15 or Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro will take care of it.

Keyplex 350DP is an excellent source of micros, a quick green up if applied foliar.  Make sure and add a surfactant to your spray or you're wasting your time and money.
