Tropical Fruit Discussion / Baby cacao needs some help.
« on: June 19, 2020, 11:52:33 PM »

My baby cacao isn't very happy, as you can see in the pic. Any ideas what's wrong ? (It's currently being grown with a grow light but I don't keep it too close to the light (~3 feet away ) so I don't think it's being burned ... any help would be nice. Thanks.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Fungal infect on mango, or something else?
« on: September 22, 2018, 12:01:43 PM »

As the title implies, I'm having trouble with growing mangoes from seed indoors. (I live too far north to grow them outside). I have no trouble getting them to sprout and grow. But by the time they put out their third or fourth whirl of leaves, the trouble begins. As seen in the pics, a spot on the leaves discolour and begins to dry out/crisp. Eventually most of the leaf "turns" and then drops off. This continues until the young mango dies.

Any advice / tips / remedies?
Any help at all? It's really frustrating getting the mango to grow, reach ~16-18 inches, than watch it due. :/

Thanks for the reply. Have a good day. Cheers.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / What is it?
« on: September 09, 2018, 10:23:22 PM »

So, I inherited this plant from a deceased relative a few months ago. I'm not sure what it is, or even what continent it's from (my great aunt travelled throughout Africa, and Australia, and sometimes brought random seeds back). It could be store bought (but I've never seen anything like it in the local garden centres that I visit for work). Every now and then it has tiny white flowers down the "sharp" edges of its stem.

I'm curious if anyone here knows what it is and what to do with it. Apparently it takes the drought like conditions of my south facing living room windows well enough lol.

Thanks for the replies. Cheers.

PS - right now it's about 18 inches high.
PPS - yes that's s coffee plant in the background. One of the few tropicals I am familiar with growing. ☝️
