Cherimoya Bluing Inside
« on: December 07, 2022, 01:44:57 PM »
Had an interesting cherimoya from seed have blue/purple pigmentation. It seems to only occur where the skin on outside is damaged/bruised. What are some thoughts?

Looks like sunburn damage. Happens mostly to fruit on young trees with sparse foliage.

Possibly, but the fruit were in the middle of the tree. Was just amazed at the blue/purple coloring.

Its special flavor adding mold like blue cheese.  Yum...

The growth on the skin under the coin is from cold and wet weather I think.  I noticed late season fruit gets fungal damage during wet winter.
