How Close Is Too Close?

(1/1)

Carbo:
Out of necessity, (small yard), I'm thinking of planting a second mango tree, (Pickering), adjacent to an existing mango tree, (Cogshall).  I would estimate about twelve feet, maybe fifteen, from trunk to trunk.  Any potential problems with this scenario?  Cross breeding?  Two headed mangoes?

murahilin:
You'll be fine. No problems.

What do you mean by cross breeding and two headed mangos?

HMHausman:
You shouldn't have any problems or issues at all.  If anyone is considering planting Pickering near to any other mango, it would be best to plant the Pickering to the south of the other tree.  This way the larger tree will not shade out the Pickering (or at least will allow the best sun exposure to the smaller Pickering) and you can even plant them closer if you have to.

Just throwing out a silly comment.  But what I was wondering is what happens if the pollen from the Cogshall fertilizes a flower on the Pickering, will I then be credited with a new cultivar. . .a Cogering??
