Your are likely doing nothing wrong.  Now is the time of year when citrus flower.  Just let the tree handle the flowers, you don't have to do anything.  Normally only 1 to 3 percent oft he flowers on a citrus tree produce fruit that will remain on the tree until maturity.  If every flower on a citrus tree
 produced fruit, the tree would be crushed under its own weight.

As Vnomonee wrote.  You can determine when to water just by lifting the container.  After you next water lift up the pot to feel its weight.  Then every 3 days lift again.  You will learn very quickly when it is time to water.

Organic fertilizers are OK for in ground trees, but not for container trees. Organic fertilizers require the  organism that are in the earth's soil to break them down to be useable by the tree.  Synthetic container potting soils  lack the organisms to brake the organic fertilizer down, therefor organic fertilizers are not available to the tree. Do your trees bloom?  If so be absolutely sure to keep your tree well watered during the bloom period.  Also be sure that your trees are always adequately fertilized.

rainman, I see what you meant, and you are correct in that matter..  Over time water develops drainage paths, then some spots in the container become hard dry. These spots and are very difficult to rewet.  Therefore, he container must be soaked to rewet them.

I tend to go with poncirusguy.  To avoid dry pockets, simply soak the problem container in a larger container for 1/2 hour more or less every  month or so.   Works every time.

I don't know the real answer to that.  Any curled leaves that one of my trees get, I leave on for their natural life (18 months).  Curled leaves still produce almost the same amount of energy for the tree as do normal curled leaves.

In Florida try covering them with a heaver covering, and put an light bulb under the covering. Not LED type.

Could be most any sucking insects, with a high probably being  thrips.  This type of problem can be easily be eliminated by spraying the new growth with a horticultural oil every couple days until the leaf matures.  Even a daily  strong water spray to the upper and lower  leaf until the new growth firms up will go a long way to stop this leaf curl.

The highest use period for lemons is during the summer months.  Growers know this, and therefore try to produce their lemon crop at that time of year.  To accomplish this, they withhold the watering during the late fall or early winter until the tree shows a light withering which will cause a fall/winter blooming, thereby causing the tree to produce fruit that will be ready during the high profit period of summer.
