Nice, never tasted that one. Was the tree productive? Did it grow fast? How big is it?

I have an orange sherbet that's been ripening for 10 days will try it tonight. I have another orange Essence in a box that I brought from South Florida. That will be the second one that I've tried so I may be able to a form an opinion.
My orange Sherbert has never had any issues with anthracnose and I am in the interior 9B. In my area it growth rate is moderate and very manageable.

Nice! Let me how the tasting comparison goes.  Is your OS mango tree productive?

Wow good to know, PPK can this good.  Is the tree alternate bearing?

Orange Sherbet seems like a good option it the tree produces well and is easily manageable.

I know Har really likes Orange Essense mango.

Never tasted these two kinds.

Hello again folks, what you recommend as the best orange\lemon mango tree?

Priorities would be:

1. Productivity
2. Growth habit (smaller better)
3. Decease resistance
4. Fruit taste
5. Fruit size (bigger better)

Carrie always carries the day!  Nicely done.  ;)

I completely disagree on the description of Chok Anon by Rob.
My tree makes excellent fruit and it does have that citrussy taste described in the video.
A good well ripened Chok Anon will hold its own with many of the top tiers raved about on the forum, at least in my assessment.

Wish you could taste one and see if it is to your likening.

Taste is relative and what works for you or me may not work for others.  I know a couple of people who will take a good Tommy Atkins (and the mango snubs gasp...) over some of the top tiers.  A friend told me once, if I want a coconut I will get a coconut, why would I want a mango that taste like a coconut when I can get a mango that taste like a mango.

You may want to remove some of the "better" varieties and plant some other top tier varieties like Diamond, Tommy Atkins, Turpentine,  etc.
Why would I when I have the very best of all, Carrie!

Hello folks, how does the Chok Anon mango taste compares to lemon merengue or lemon zest?
Does it taste like orange sherbet or orange essence?  Never tasted these two.

Sulcata Grove rated a 9 out 10!

The tree is medium growth and decease resistant, wonder why it is not highly talked about it.

Sugar loaf is the flavor bomb, like pina colada! Some say the tree is a compact grower and flowers pretty good.

I tried the sunburst/fruit cocktail mango and it’s very good. The flesh is soft and fiberless and it had some of the spice flavor (like Carrie has) but not too much and also a fizz component. Seems to be an earlier ripening mango, took a week to ripen and was properly ripened. The others from my list have been hard on my counter for over a week.

I agree with your assessment on fruit cocktail very good enjoyable mango. I also had a coconut cream that was very good. After Pine Islander dispelled some of the carrie hate propaganda. I purchased about a dozen carries from truly tropical. My wife and I enjoyed them very much. The one that I had last year must have been over ripe. I have had two Sweet Tarts so far one was watery the other was sweet but not tart. So for my taste Dot is #1 Dwarf Hawaiian #2 Graham&Carrie are tied for #3 this could change rather shortly I still have Sugarloaf and Phoenix in the finny box. I also like Bombay but Ladies choice was a little weak. I am willing to give her another chance. I did overhear a conversation at the Fruit Stand from someone who really likes PPK. They said so far this year it has been a little weak. Last year was excellent.I I still have a half dozen in a box.

I took this photo for John51

Very nice trees you got there, where at and how much for it?
Aha, so finally Carrie is on your list!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Which is easier - Cogshall or Carrie?
« on: June 10, 2021, 06:06:12 PM »
Carrie all day long, bushy tree medium grower, clean, produces well.  I hear that cogshall is a nice compact tree, the only downside of carrie is that if it falls it bruises easily.
Now, taste wise carrie wins.

Some more info on Denise mango. Rated a top tier fruit. I wish to try one some day.

So, promoting an unknown mango as "top tier" that you have never tasted based on a youtube video... ???  ::)

Based on two videos, I would sure like to try it out.
No promoting anything, it was rated by others as top tier, hence why I said: I have not tasted.

Sugarloaf mango is my favorite!!!

I have yet to try an M4.  In the coconut flavored profile coconut cream is good as well but not better than SL.

Nice, living the life in Costa Rica!  A land with rich soil, plenty of rain, full of fruitful trees, friendly people, etc.

How is the life over there?  What are the pros and cons?  Can you please list a few?

Pura Vida!

Hi everyone,

Thank you all so much for the great advice I've received on this forum!  I'm going to post reviews on all of the mangoes from my list as useful information for the forum.  I was planning on ordering all of them from Tropical Acres Farm but unfortunately that seems like it will be out of my price range to try ALL of these through them since they changed their policy so you can't select individual varieties (I still plan on buying as many variety boxes as I can).  I'm also going to try and do a road trip to West Palm Beach to pick up some of these varieties.  I will be picking up my first PPK mango this weekend.

Phoenix
Cotton Candy
Pineapple Pleasure
Lemon Meringue/Po Pu Kalay(PPK)
Sugarloaf
O-15
M-4
Sweet Tart
Pina Colada
Juicy Peach
Butter Cream
Creme Brulee
Fruit Cocktail
Sunrise
Sunset
Honey Kiss
Peach Cobbler
Fruit Punch
Super Alphonso
Guava
Zinc (Zill Indochinese)
Kathy
Seacrest
Orange Essence
White Piri

See if you can try out carrie and ugly betty mango. Very nice flavor on both fruits.

I know this thread is a little old, but just wanted to say we drove out to NOFO Grove today to check out their mangoes and they had a great selection!  We came home with 7g Fruit Punch, Sweet Tart & Honey Kiss, and 3g Coconut Cream.  Aaron and his wife were very helpful and super friendly.  They had a great selection of other stuff too, but we were only in the market for mangoes.

He has a list of mangoes in stock on his website so you can see his amazing selection http://www.nofogroves.com

How much for the 7G and 3G?

Found some really nice hadens at Publix for $1 each.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Mango thief on the loose!

Check this out, this douche bag goes out and wipes the whole tree clean.

If anyone recognizes please report it to the authorities. Thievery is a crime.

Mango season should always bring out the best in us, not the opposite.

One puts out so much time, energy, effort, funds and waits patiently for this special season of the year only to be robbed?

What a scrounger!  Arrrrggghhhhhhhhh
