Ca, was good season for my backyard trees.  Guessing farms are down to what's left.

Raw Honey (last 1) sitting on my counter.  I disagree with Bombay likeness, based on tasting vids of Bombay.  I never had 1.
Raw Honey to me tastes like plain ol honey but less sweet.  It's my least fav outta all i planted but it's good enough to stay put.
It's good (for me) as far as disease problems.  None really.
My experience.

Cogshall looks too small, had 1 like that yesterday my last 1and it was nothing like the ones 2x size with pointy shoulders & red color.
Had 2 Peach C's today i let sit too long and were small ish as well.  Weren't like larger picked & eaten at proper time ones.  Personally Cogshall to me is better.
Learning some mangos taste drastically different when eaten or picked too soon/late more then i prefer lol.
I'd love a very good with wide window over excellent variety mango.

Ok then, Maha's flying under the radar.  It shares my favorite with Cogshall.
Picked these today, Raw Honey, Peach Cobbler & M4 only trees with a few each left.
They're hard but will be better then finding seeds on ground lol.
Pickering, Cogshall, M4, Peach Cobbler, Raw Honey.
Angle makes top row look smaller.  7.5lbs.

Ate 2 Pickerings & a Peach Cobbler shown today.  PC is only seed i can eat near clean without fibers.

Maha was so good.  1st yr fruiting.  Are they always this good?
Taste was like a dozen fruit drinks mixed.  Enjoy them Doc!

Pickering been ok for me.  Vari greatly though.  Some washed out mild, others tasty, a few had strong coconut taste which I don't understand why.  The ones coming off tree last with yellow color are better then early ones.

Almost everything has been tasting better compared to last month.
1st Pickerings were blah,  Kent was so so, M4 didn't impress, Maha & Cogshall great since day 1 though :)
Now everything tastes great.  Probably because what's left was able to ripen properly?

Ate a Peach cobbler before dinner.  Was a tad too soon & tasted totally different.  Not 1 tasted the same.  Kinda cool tasting like a different fruit each time (so far), guessing game knowing when to cut it.
Next one i'l let wrinkle a bit more like i do M4.

Early this morning WPTV did quick live interview with Alex & other familiar looking guy talking up Mango Fest.
Reporter sampled Orange sherbet, ppk i think & 1 more.  He was wow'd.  Word's out.
Was cool seeing that.  I won't be there but i'll enjoy youtube vids :)
Edit - Fruit Punch was one.

Happy to say i ate more Pickerings, M4's and they were great.
Had 1st Raw Honey of season today, and 2 more less ripe which were great too.
This mango thing knowing when to eat has serious learning curve!
Can't judge a variety till you've picked, eaten different levels.  Goes from amazing to gross :)
Raw honey cut & large pickering for show.

My Maha's had some give when squeezed on tree, never hard.  They also got picked up off ground ripe ater falling.
Few i picked last fell off as i barely grabbed them to lift test.  Edible in a day.  Ones on ground softer, ate after washing them off lol.  They came in all different sizes from 7" or so to 2".  Every one was delish.  Tree ripen all you can.

My mangos went like this..
Maha Chanok 1st yr fruited, tastes like canned tropical fruit punch flavors by the dozens.
Cogshall love it for edible skin.
M4 certainly had that coconut or the like taste.
Peach Cobbler really did smell & taste a bit like baked peaches.  Make sure it's ripe.
Pickerig only 1 fruit tasted coconut, the rest bland, some were decent but nothing special.
Kent i peeled to freeze 10 and not 1 tasted the same.

Also learned most go from amazing to garbage can if allowed to overripen!  :(
Was overwhelmed with too many at once ripening in kitchen, great as Maha & Cogshall are, they smelled (and tasted) so bad after too many days sitting there!  Killed me.  Lesson learned, peel & freeze if not eating when ready.  Still learning firmness too.  Better under then overripe 99% of the time.

Probably froze 10lbs of decent ones so far.  Watched Truly T youtube vid of Ms Chris dehyrating them into fruit rollups.  Planning on trying it :)

EDIT- Pickerings improved greatly.  Picked them too soon!

Yesterday & today.  Glad i stuck with it after losing so much last yr to powdery mildew & anthracnose.
I'm stuffed lol.  Those little Maha are good.
Had ripe Peach Cobbler today, did smell & taste like baked peach!

Edit- i can't type chanok with 2 oo's to ask- i see it spelled both ways.. anyone know what's correct?

Pickering i don't remember tasting coconut but this yr it does.  Alot.
I'm not a coconut person, i'll try to time a M4 & Pickering & eat both.
Picked 5 Pickerings today, tired of seeing large ones 1/2 eaten on ground.
Tomorrow i bet just the seed at most will be left. I imagine varmints eyes open wide when they bite ripe mangos.  Beats a nut.

M4 i say if there's plenty on tree, pick 1 & counter ripen.  Mine was hard & softened up fine.  Max flavor?  Doubt it but good.
The rest of mine still on tree so i'll find out what waiting another month does.  Still hard on tree but couple have brown stem.
Maha's i been picking up one every morning & soft.  It's a great mango, wish skin was edible.

M4 cold, before lunch.  Reminded me of pina colada shakes i had as kid at bazars minus bag of zeppolis lol.

Very cool Rain, all!

My lunch..
Both cold, leftover thigh & Cogshall mango.  So good when hot out.  Yes i eat with skin.
Super sweet without, skin adds another dimension of flavor :)

They were hard when i picked them a week or more ago.  Hanging low, sticking out, didn't want to lose them to mower.  Quite large too.  Ripened up nice on counter.
I have more on tree & 1/2 dozen golf ball 2nd bloomers.  Wind was brutal months ago.

CC, glad u enjoyed a mango after what a animal did to a tree.
Did you cut it clean so it comes back?

Ate a M4 today.  I change my opinion on M4.  Was very good, tasted what suntan lotion at the beach smells like.  Ate most of skin too, more after taking photo :)
Guess it's true- don't judge mangos till it's 2nd or 3rd (for me) yr fruiting.

i would definitely pick one.  I see shoulders, dark enough stem, squeeze & take the 1 with give.
Or do the bend it up thing till stem snaps at 90 degrees.  I prefer cutting stem though.
Don't have to eat it yet if too firm.

edit- take the 1 on the left middle photo

I've been picking quite a few when still hard fearing varmints & landscaper.
I figure less then perfect's better then losing it lol.  Squirrels attack when ripe.
Some are slightly soft i've picked.  Mainly cogshall & maha.

Doc, they look great.

Cogshall
Beyond good.  Shake your head as you're eating it good.
Mangos with edible skin get bonus points for ease.
Nailed it, 1 more day would be overripe.  Tasted like canned heavy syrup.

During dry season my parents visit.  They worry we'll dry out.  I say don't, we make up for it quick.
Funny they came down to help me do what we didn't get to over winter & left a few days ago.  The 2 weeks they were here was sure hot but rain never was issue.  Sky opens up day after they left & hasn't stopped lol.
