Can you show me one that says it has spines? Also, you may just be better off buying one of the tissue cultured breadfruit trees that Pine Island sells.
Just noticed it under the "Observations" links. Seems like most of them have it so I am thinking that spines may be attached to the core. I have had breadfruit in Jamaica (and brought back from there) several times, but never actually prepared it myself.

"Definition: Definition of presence/absence of spines on fruit skin, greatest frequency of 5 fruit."
