I have some Korlan growing, and I was wondering what experiences folks may have had with it? I have read the information here on the tff, but there is not much about the fruit, whether it clings to the seed, or the height of the tree, etc.
Any personal experiences? Thanks

I don't grow it. But I thought about buying some seeds from a Thai seller on eBay. I think they're in season there rn. Did you look at the posts on the buy sell trade page too? Vendors say a bit about the fruit.

I have several very large trees. They haven't flowered or fruited, Not sure why. Gave them some super K to see if that will help? There are male and female trees and probably also hermaphrodite trees. i ate fruits in Thailand. They are like a small tart lychee..

They get to be big trees in Isaan and can be seen loaded with fruit.I think they enjoy hot summers and dry springs,

I have three in perth, they are only a couple of feet tall but have handled the perth winter as well as my longans.

Thanks for the advice everyone. The seller from Thailand is who I bought the seeds from. The seeds surprisingly germinated, and my previous experience was seeds sitting in dirt rotting, so I was surprised.
He says they are sweet. I am wondering if there are sweet varieties that are more like a sweet lychee than a tart one? I didn't know they were mainly dioecious. I probably wouldn't have tried to grow it if I'd known. Lol. Now I can't give away as many as I'd like.

From what i heard they go from very tart to slightly tart.

I assumed they were tart as well. I plan to try one them as rootstock for rambutan if they keep performing.

Good idea as korlan is more hardy.

The ones I have eaten were sweet like a rambutans and had pale rough seeds that were quite hard, They are small without a lot of flesh but pretty pleasant and the trees in Ubon and around the Mun River (wider than a mile) pronounced moon, have good varieties commonly in yards.

Fingers crossed, mine is a sweet variety. I'm not a big tart fruit eater. I'll let you guys know in 20 years if it's sweet. Lol. Hope the forum is still around then.

I have a korlan tree myself that has gotten huge already, but it has been growing in a pot in a greenhouse. Has anyone tried growing it in the ground in South Florida? I remember Chris Rollins from the Fruit and Spice Park telling me how he had two korlan trees at the park, but they died.
