Tropical Fruit Discussion / Jaboticaba esclarate?

The person selling this plant claims it is jaboticaba esclarate.  I just would like to have a confirmation before buying.  Also, he claims it is grafted.  But when I asked him, what's the rootstock used, he's giving a vague answer.  So, I'm not completely satisfied whether to buy or not.

When growing large fruiting plants in pots, is it absolutely necessary to grow the plant in small pot and gradually re-pot to bigger pots as it grows or can it be directly grown in the largest pot available?

If a tree is grown from seeds of a grafted tree, will the resulting plant be short and bear fruits early like the grafted plant or will it grow tall and bear fruits much later?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Peanut butter fruit

My sole plant gets to this stage and then they drop.  Are these buds or flowers?  For the past several months, they are blooming and dropping off.  Is the plant lacking any nutrients?

So far, I was lucky in that a single fruit set in June. 



Please suggest how to increase yield of these fruits.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Root rot?

In February, one fine day the bark around the base of this mulberry tree's trunk peeled off and something whitish appeared on it.  I did not pay much attention to it then as I was busy with other works. 



Then, in mid March, all of a sudden this tree died.  Was it due to root rot?  I don't want to have a repeat with the other remaining plants.  Thank you.

Recently, I transplanted this plant from a pot to the ground, but I don't really know what it is.  Anybody can help me identifying it?





About 2 years ago, I had received some fruits of Saba Comorensis.  I tried to check if it was this one, but these leaves are more longer and saba leaves are rounder.

3 of the flowers have set fruit.  But, my concern is that initially the raw fruits are supposed to be green and then turn yellow on ripening.  These are already yellow?

Just received some seeds supposedly of marula.  From what I have seen online, I thought the seeds would be much bigger than what I have just received.  So, I just want to confirm these are actually marula seeds. 



The seeds are also not similar with some being almost half of the others.  The measurement in the scale is in centimeters.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Soursop - lots of flowers, but no fruit.

My soursop tree has only fruited once before.  And the fruit was very small and fell off even before ripening.  At any given time, this tree has at least 5-6 flowers.  Right now, there are more than 10 flowers.  I even tried to hand pollinate once, but it was a failure.  None of them form fruits. 

As it had already set fruit once, could I safely assume that there is no issue with pollination?  Please help.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Hylocereus megalanthus seedlings - growth rate?

I had given some seeds to a cousin.  His seedlings are short and stout whereas mine are tall and slender.  Mine have been getting direct sunlight for about 6-7 hours daily.  So, it's definitely not due to the light. Should I be concerned about the tall growth?

People here are calling this fruit elantha pazham.  This refers to the Indian jujube which is much smaller and reddish brown in color.  I have placed them in a dinner plate so that you can get a perspective of it's size.

As you can see from the pictures, this plant should be about 10 feet tall.  The wall is 6 feet tall (for comparison).  Now, this plant is flowering but all the flowers are way on the top part.  Many suggest to hand pollinate for effective fruit set.  It's almost impossible to get to the flowers at this height.  So, should I prune it or just allow nature to take its course?

Last month, a friend from Gambia was supposed to bring a bunch of madd fruit for me.  He purchased these:



But, he was able to bring back only one fruit :(.  By the time, this single fruit reached me, it had already began to spoil and looked like this:



Also the fruit had started to ferment.  On cutting it open, it was already spoilt. 



But, I managed to salvage the seed



Finally after nearly a month, a couple of them have sprouted. 



I just want to confirm that this is Saba senegalensis and not some other Landolphia specie.

The fruit is hard on the outside, just like the wood apple.  Locally, they call it "vilvam pazham" in Tamil.  It does looks like the bael fruit (Aegle marmelos) but I still have some doubts.

I received some seeds of biriba from Brazil.  They were posted on June 18th.  I received them on July 6th.  Almost 20 days in transit.  These seeds are supposed to have a very short viability.  I immediately soaked them overnight and am planning to soak them further for another day.  Are they still viable? 

Another question is about a quarter of the seeds were split.  I'm sure these would never grow.  But, I have soaked them anyway.  Any reason why they split?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Dragon fruit germination - amount of light?

A couple of years ago, I successfully germinated some dragon fruit seeds within 3-4 days of sowing.  It was the common white fleshed ones - Hylocereus undatus .  About 2 weeks ago, I got some fruit of Hylocereus megalanthus yellow dragon fruit from Ecuador.  I used the same method as in the common ones.  It is almost 10 days now, but not a single seed germinated. 

For the first 7-8 days, the seeds were in a room with only diffused light and no direct bright light.  Could the intensity of the light be the problem?

OR

Another thing is that I removed the transparent jelly-like sead-coat (testa?) before sowing.  Does this affect germination?
