Tropical Fruit Discussion / yellow roseapple
« on: September 07, 2014, 05:53:52 AM »
I found a new or rare tree again and bought one. It is the Chumpoo hom, namdocmai si thong. Yellow goodsmelling  rose-apple.

I saw the pic's from the fruit and they were big yellow fruits, the size of a small mango, round and very sweet.

While i was looking at the shop from grandpa a lady who spoke english told me she grew 2 of them but they had not fruited yet. She said they are nice sweet fruits so i bought one for fun.

When i google for yellow rose=apple i only find this, it is known in California but not the namdocmai si thong version (means yellow/gold) i guess.

So has anybody heard of the yellow rose-apple? Or is chumpoo also another fruit?

Let's keep the info about Willughbeia species all together. That will make it easyier to find them.

http://www.noknoi.com/magazine/article.php?t=3254

I just found this article in Thai language and they write about a tree but also a vine. I think i have seen the tree this week, from Malaysia and for sale. Maybe i will go there today and then let my wife call on the phone with the seller.

Which willughbeia's are from Thailand/Malaysia is what i like to know. Then i will try to find them here.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Giant Cabeluda

Small peach flavored, delicious fruit; slow grower, but worth the wait! I will also be able to offer a very rare, giant version of this species ($50) in 2013.

Did anybody eat/see the new giant cabeluda from Govardhan gardens so far? I love peaches but they won't grow in my climate so maybe this is a great alternative. Will i get a grafted tree for that 50$ or just a few seeds?

« on: July 11, 2014, 11:14:35 AM »
http://organicfarm.net/seeds.htm

I am interested in a madroņotree but i want to have the best tasting variety.

Does anybody know which one tastes the best of these 2? The sweet one costs a lot more so are they worth it?

this is the sweet one

Bacupari fruta comestível (Jean severino)

this is the normal one

And is it the same fruit as rheedia longifolia which is shown here?

this is rheedia acuminata   bacuri castudo

To me they all look the same but which one tastes the best?? Then i will go for that one.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / vinassekali
« on: July 01, 2014, 06:05:18 AM »
Today i read about this fertilizer which is all natural powder and gives a high dose of potassium, slow release.

I had never heard of it before but it sold widely now in Holland.  It is made from molasses and yeast which made me think of EM. Does EM also have a high amount of potassium?

Did anybody try vinassekali  allready? Is it any good?
