I saw red salacca on the market this week but i don't know the variety name. Maybe it's easyier for the indo members.

Yes i guess so, i didn't ask for the variety. I was searching for new fruit that i don't know yet.

Salacca affinis is very different from rakam and sakum in thailand which are S.wallichiana. They are probably no better to eat than S.affinis being close to the wild types unlike the improved Sala.

GEMS if you are seeking to grow salaks for eating I suggest S.wallachiana Sala varieties sumalee and noen Wong, S.zalacca zalacca javanese pondoh and S. zalacca  var. Amboina (or Bali) of all varieties but red fleshed Boni and gula pasir are best.

Any member has any of the best Zalacca as suggested by Mike T.
