unknown (ID) seedlings - sapplings (Jabo?)
« on: May 20, 2016, 04:45:46 PM »
So i have like 200 seed packs
tags often fall or fade when i bother.
soil gets re-used and 6 months later i get unknowns :)

how fun...

no idea what this could be... Anyone ???

--

I thought these were Jabo seedlings.
i have several of them, and cant think of what else i had planted more than 5 of.

this has 1 really large leaf.
and the leaves look longer and pointier than my Jabo
(it was a Sabra from from PIN)

still having problems uploading images (admin ?)
the first few upload OK,
then the pop-up page goes to the topic page when i try to upload.

using photobucket...

The first three pictures look like Eugenia Florida to me.

The first three pictures look like Eugenia Florida to me.

Really ?
I had kept that in the back of my head, because
i had bought seeds last year for it (from someone here BTW)
and they never (LOL) germinated.
i re-use soil all the time
so, this makes sense... im sooo glad

although, i think the very first pic/plant
is different from pics/plants 2 and 3.
i have a couple more of the  ones in photo 2 and 3
which now i think are E. Florida.

the vein structure appears different in plant-pic #1
and it seems to be growing faster than the others.
guess it could be natural variation

I wasn't sure about the first plant either, but they don't look like Jaboticaba to me. E Florida's leaves change quite a bit from young shoots to adult leaves. Look at the pictures of Nelesedulis's tree in this thread:

Yes, the first plant is definitely something else, but I have no idea what. The leaves grow alternately, and not pairwise, like most Eugenia's do. I couldn't make that out in the first picture.
