Artificial Lighting in the Winter

Is there a consensus on what the best lights to use to supplement the sun light in the Winter? My plants will be brought in soon, and I'd like to get a good fixture to give them more light. I'd like to know what brand and what W, nothing too big, but enough to give them a little extra. Looking to buy a small space heater too. Any suggestions, guys?
