Hello everyone, glad and thankful to be here.
A lot of you know me from gardenweb but may not know that I'm also the owner of a small tropical fruit tree farm and nursery. Its called Tropical Acres Farms, Inc. and is located in Loxahatchee Groves, FL in Palm Beach County.
I established the business in 2011. Most of my trees are still young but I anticipate my fruit availability growing as the trees mature. I mostly grow mangoes and avocados, but also have many other varieties of fruit planted. I grow with organic methods and do not apply synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.
I will be offering mangoes for sale beginning this season (May or June depending on availability) and should have avocados as well this fall. I will have shipping available also for people who would like to buy fruit but don't live in the area.
For a comprehensive list of the trees we grow, visit us on facebook and do please click "like" :) :

It will be great having a source for local fruit. I HATE going to a produce stand in July and finding only heat-treated mangos from other countries.
-
Hey Squam,
Glad to see that you are up and running. Good luck, hope to be stopping by soon.
-
Thanks
this is good news!
Makes Loxahatchee an even nicer place to be.
-
Shameless bump! We now have mangoes for sale, beginning with Edward.
For you locals, in addition to pickup throughout the week, we will also have a booth at the West Palm Beach Green Market this summer on Wednesday evenings between 5pm and 8pm, beginning Wednesday May 23rd. The market is located at the downtown waterfront, 101 South Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach, 33401.

Very nice looking Edwards! My favorite, good luck at the WPB Market. Time to make a trip south.

I would like to buy some mangos. How do I go about doing so?
-
message, email, or you can call 561-358-8566. Can usually arrange a meeting somewhere convenient if/when you might be in the Palm Beach county/west palm area.
I also ship, for those of you that aren't anywhere close.
-
Do you sell your mangos by the lb or charge a flat rate per fruit?

By the pound.

Hi Squam,
I tried to buy a mango tree from you on FB but I can't have it shipped via FedEx. Do you use USPS? Pine has been able to ship to me just fine using USPS. Also, you have limited varieties of mangos on eBay but a more comprehensive list here on the Forum. Is this based on current availability? To purchase a specific tree not listed on eBay, should I message you instead? Hope you could shed some light on this. Thanks in advance!!
Chris

Really enjoyed the Edwards mangos, as did my boss, from Trinidad. :) Thanks!
Don't tell anyone, but I personally think a good Kent is just as delicious as an Edwards, though. But maybe less consistently so.

That's fine, because I'll have Kent for sale this year too! Glad you enjoyed the fruit.

I have never had Edwards but a ripe or just past ripe Kent ranks high for me. Thankfully my own Kent tree is finally fruiting ...... there are many big ol ones around S Fl.

Will there be any mangos available to purchase this weekend? Love to buy some :)

Nat
They better have been good for $2 a lb! Lol
I actually bought a few last week and they were pretty good. Not washed out at all. I still will fight for the sale of mango by the fruit though!

I would love to try 'Nam Doc Mai #4', could you ship to CA?

Taste is no different than the "regular"/"old fashioned" NDM. The NDM Mun and NDM Saitong should have slight differences whn compared to the NDM/NDM4.
-
Unfortunately I can't ship fruit to California :(
Also, I'm harvesting lots of Pico (Philippine type), Young (Edward x Kent cross), and a fair amount of Duncan. Also have some 'Wester' available, which is a very nice mango.
-
Tell us more about the 'Wester', size, color, flavor, etc.

I think Squam is making up mango names again.
-
He has been promising me one to try, so we shall see. Fun, a new variety!. He does have a long list of names though, doesn't he? Maybe a new leader in the clubhouse.

Description of Wester in right collumn on page 3:

I don't think the flavor is that similar to its parent Pico though....it is better, more similar to the Saigon descendents.
-
Thanks for the link! Can't wait to try one.
-
That was a really cool article
thanks for posting :)

Alex, do you expect to have peaches (fruit) for sale this year?
I think some of the low chill ones for Florida are pretty darn good.

I may have some. The trees have been blooming and setting fruit. I'll need to check tomorrow to see which ones. I want to say UF Sun, Florida Prince, and Tropic Sweet trees are among those that bloomed.
-
Do you sell tropic sweet peach trees?
-
Mangos bought, tasted today
Duncan
Gloria - I think its a named seedling, very sweet, mild fiber- I really like this and I wish I bought more,
Philippine
A Huge Lancetilla
Pickering
Jehangir
A lone coconut cream , which is ripening
some bananas too - Thanks!
-

Great resource for reading about some mango varieties in your area.
Last time I was there he had trees, didn't ask what varieties though.
-
Yes, Alex sells trees in addition to budwood, mangoes, and avocados. I don't think he ships trees though.
