Few seeds of interesting Annonacea available
« on: July 25, 2016, 06:31:55 PM »
Hi,
Can anyone help me to ID this Annonacea. The flesh is similar to Duguetias around the seeds.
Quite a bit of flesh actually compared to many Duguetias. It is creamy and sweet.
Anyone interested in seeds send me a PM.

Here another fruit most likely Annonacea as well

I just looked at the book Duguetias by the dutch botanist Paul Maas and the fruit resembles a bit Duguetia reticulata.

I think that may belong to Moraceae, may be a Naucleopsis sp.

Dada, I found out: it Naucleopsis glabra. So it's not an annonacea.

Take a look: http://www.nybg.org/science/amazon-program.php

Yes SH, probably it is Naucleopis glaba, or Naucleopis Caloneura, it was good to know where it was collected, I already had contact with 4 species of Naucleopis, visually reminds me more N.Glaba, they are very good fruits, sweet, trees Large and latex, in the region they call Jaca do Mato, Muiratinga or Pamá.

I have fresh seeds at the time of Naoneopolis Caloneura and another species that I do not know which is for sure. Probably Naucleopis Jamariensis, which is endemic to a small region in northern Brazil, but we are still studying the correct ID. In 2014 I brought seeds of the four species of Manaus, but the seedlings are very fragile and die with the beginning of winter.

I am with these two planted again and waiting for germination.

Another detail that I forgot to mention, in the Forest, me and a friend, we identified that these species are male and female trees, produce different fruits in the male trees (smaller and flat with small seeds) and the females produce regular fruits.

Wow your experience about growing Naucleopsis sounds similiar to my experience. Here in my place 2 seedlings of Naucleopsis ulei are growing, which were brought from our forum member Vitor(He either appreciated the flavor of Naucleopsis fruits). Actually they were five in May, 2016, but three of them died one by one during the last winter.

How would you say if I asked about their average height? At least N. ulei seedlings have thicker bole than the seedlings of Artocarpus or Helicostylis I've grown.

Could you tell us more details you mentioned about the Naucleopsis "male fruits"? I wonder if they are produced asexually, contain fertile seeds.

hi SH

Here in the nursery they grew very well, 1, 4 m in height, in fact I neglected with the irrigation, it was at a time when I was changing of city and taking care of little of the seedlings.

I sowed new seeds two weeks ago, let's wait for germination.
