Hello, I have had this durian seedling for 18 days now in my garage. It started to brown from the bottom and I was afraid it was going to die, so I scratched off a tiny piece of the new bark and stopped after one scratch. Will i kill it if I scratch a tiny bit of it off?

Thanks, Matt

Hello, I got a chanee durian seed last week and it has started to put out the green stem, should I uncover more of it or let it extend itself? The garage hardly gets below 60 degrees, and it is being supplemented by 5100K LED grow lights before I build my greenhouse.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Grafting mango trees indoors
« on: May 08, 2017, 05:31:33 PM »
Hello, as it is way too cold to graft mangos outside currently, I have decided to move them into my garage. I'm going to use metal halide lighting to supply the light, and a small forced air heater to supplement the needed heat. Can I pull it off successfully? And what should I do to make it a bit more successful?

Thanks, Matt

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Why are my soursop leaves so small

HOLY CRAAAAAP!! This Stuff works like magic! You might as well throw away everything you know about soil because the owner of the nursery has it all figured out. When I first bought my trees, they were on a slow decline, lychees got really bad leaf burn, mango slowly dying of root rot, etc. But then I switched to this soil because the guy explained how commercial potting soil/planting mix actually harms the tree rather than helping it. The mix is made of sand, pumice, charcoal, and perlite. When I switched half the old soil to the lychee, it immediately dropped the bad leaves and went into a giant growth spurt, without any of the classic californian lychee leaf burn, then I switched my Pickering Mango tree to that stuff, and it went into a nice growth flush ON A TURPENTINE ROOTSTOCK. All my plants except the barerooted ones show extreme improvement in tree health. I am not trying to promote his stuff, but rather im giving my review on the soil.  Make sure u guys dont bareroot any trees cause that'll kill em. make sure you get down to the main rootball, then stop.
